Road Upgrading in Dulag, Leyte Underway

As part of the agency’s asset preservation program, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) undertakes road improvement works along the Dulag-Julita-Burauen Road in the Municipality of Dulag, Leyte.

In a report submitted to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH-Region 8 Director Edgar B. Tabacon said that the project involves reblocking of damaged pavement and asphalt overlay at intermittent sections, as well as the installation of thermoplastic pavement markers.

Flood Control Project Safeguards Aqua, Agriculture in Maitum, Sarangani Province

Residents of Barangay Kalaneg, Municipality of Maitum, Sarangani Province are now better protected from flooding with the recent completion of the Kalaneg Flood Control Facility by the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Citing reports from DPWH Regional Office XII Director Basir M. Ibrahim, Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that the flood control project implemented by the DPWH under the basic infrastructure program, involves the construction of 682.8-meter concrete slope protection intended to benefit residents of the low-lying Brgy. Kalaneg in Maitum, Sarangani.

PUP Open University Building Halfway Complete

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is rushing the completion of the ongoing construction of the 4-storey Open University System Building of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Mabini Campus in Sta. Mesa, Manila.

In her report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH National Capital Region (NCR) Director Loreta M. Malaluan said that civil works on the new PUP building is currently 50 percent accomplished.

With an allocation of P50 million, the PUP Open University System Building aims to provide better learning facilities for the students.

Paniqui-on River is a tributary of the much bigger and longer Lumanoy River where flooding is a common occurrence during rainy days of typhoons. Hence, the protective structure will help prevent untoward incidents caused by water overflow.
