Flood Control Project Benefits Fisherfolk in Labason, Zamboanga del Norte
A flood control project completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now protects communities in Barangay Antonino, Labason, Zamboanga del Norte.
Built along the estuary or the downstream of Labason River where the river meets the sea, the project involved the construction of a 211.4-meter steel sheet pile river wall with concrete copping, including the installation of solar street LED lights as a safety feature.
DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia said that the concrete structure now benefits residents, which consists of mostly fishing communities.
