DPWH: 36-km Arnedo Dike Needs P20B for Total Rehab

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) bared that the 65-year-old, 36-kilometer Arnedo Dike – now known as “Pampanga River Bank” – needs at least P20 billion for the full reconstruction and rehabilitation of the whole structure from Arayat to Apalit towns.

DPWH Assistant Regional Director Loreta M. Malaluan said the department is doing its best to obtain full funding for the dike repair.

However, the amount of P20 billion is highly improbable to be approved by both houses of Congress for the Pampanga River Bank alone.

P465-Million Tourism Road Projects in Panay Island

The construction of connectivity roads has improved access to tourist destinations in Panay Island.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 6 has implemented P465 Million worth of road projects funded under FY 2015 national budget to create the gateway to tourism places in the provinces of Aklan, Antique and Capiz.

In the province of Aklan, the DPWH is undertaking two major road projects which provide better and more convenient access to the world-renowned Boracay Island – the Widening of Aklan West Road and Road Opening of Kalibo Circumferential Road.

DPWH Completes Leyte’s P395-M Baybay Diversion Road

A 5-kilometer concrete paved diversion road project that will address traffic congestion in Baybay City, Leyte has been completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and is set to be inaugurated anytime.

“Leyteños will soon be reaping the benefits of Baybay Diversion Road as it is now serviceable to motoring public,” said DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson.

Secretary Singson said the construction of the P395 million Baybay Diversion Road will serve as a trunk line of the road network of Baybay City from Maasin City to Tacloban and Ormoc City.

DPWH Paves Tourism Road to Ilocos’ Famous Bangui Windmills, Darna Falls, Tambobong Beach and More

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has improved in 2015 a total of 16 access roads leading to tourism spots in Region 1 under the DPWH-Department of Tourism (DOT) Convergence Program.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson, DPWH Region 1 Director Melanio C. Briosos said 16 major tourism road projects with total cost of P1.1 billion has been successfully implemented by its regional office and district engineering offices last year.

“Tourists now travel conveniently to see closely and feel the breeze brought by the well-known wind turbines in Bangui town of Ilocos Norte with the completion of P63 million construction and improvement of Bantoc-Suyo-Baruyen access road leading to the Bangui Wind Farm situated along the shoreline of Bangui Bay. We also have paved roads to Darna Falls, Tambobong Beach and more,” said Briosos.

DPWH-NCR January 15-18 Road Repair Schedule

The Department of Public Works and Highways-National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) will undertake reblocking and road repair of EDSA and C-5 effective 11 PM of January 15, Friday to 5 AM of January 18, Monday on the following roads in the cities of Quezon and Pasig:

Quezon City

  1. Along EDSA from Aurora Blvd. to P. Tuazon St., Service Road (1st lane from sidewalk, South bound); and
  2. Along EDSA fronting DPWH-Quezon City Second Engineering District Office (1st lane from sidewalk, North bound).
