Multi-Year Tourism Road Project in Dinagat Islands Continues to Take Shape

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is continuously working on a multi-year tourism road project in Dinagat Islands.

A concrete access road completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now provides a faster, safer, and hassle-free travel between far-flung barangays in the town of Zarraga, Iloilo.

DPWH Region 6 Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel said that the road project is divided into two (2) sections, which involves construction of two (2)-lane portland concrete cement pavement along a 1.6-kilometer portion for Section 1, and 1.7 kilometers for Section 2.

According to DPWH Regional Office 11 Director Juby B. Cordon, a 319-meter concrete seawall with deflector and drainage now ensures the structural integrity of the section of Tibanban-Lavigan Road along the coast of Davao Gulf.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently constructed a seawall that also serves as a scenic alternative road in the coastal town proper of Barcelona, Sorsogon Province.

DPWH Regional Office 5 Director Virgilio C. Eduarte, in his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, said that with an allocation of P180 million from the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the DPWH under the Sustainable Infrastructure Projects Alleviating Gaps (SIPAG) Program, was able to successfully implement a 340-meter seawall and a 156-meter coastal road entrance and exit.
