DPWH Cavite II Reports on the Status of Projects in the District

Cavite II District Engineer Arthur Pascual, Jr. delivered today the first DPWH State of the District Address (SODA) before government, business, and society representatives from Tagyatay City and nearby towns covered by the district office. In his report, Pascual declared that the DPWH Cavite II District Engineering Office had a 94.46% project accomplishment rate, completing 91 out of 103 projects in 2015.

The 103 projects have a total allocation value of P1.3 Billion representing 71 projects for 2015 and 32 carry-over projects from the previous year.

DPWH Oathtaking Ceremony

DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson administers the oath of office of Regional Director Samson L. Hebra and Assistant Regional Director Yolanda L. Tangco of DPWH Region 4-A and Assistant Director Eric A. Ayapana of Negros Island Region. Prior to their promotion, Regional Director Hebra and Assistant Regional Director Tangco were both designated on September 2014 at Region 4-A as OIC-Regional Director and OIC-Assistant Regional Director, respectively.

DPWH Oathtaking Ceremony

DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson administers the oath of office to Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain. Prior to his promotion, Undersecretary Sadain served as DPWH Assistant Secretary from July 2009 and concurrent Regional Secretary for the DPWH Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao for three (3) years from 2012. Present during the oathtaking ceremony are his wife Marilyn and children Mian Sophia, Lian Irvin and Iman.

DPWH 6 "Lakbay Alalay" Mobilized for Lent Season

In anticipation of the forthcoming Lent Season, the Department of Public Works and Highways in Region VI is mobilizing a composite team to serve in the “Lakbay Alalay” program.

Said program, which will start on March 21 to March 28, this year, is pursuant to the Memorandum issued by DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson, directing Regional and District Engineering Offices to provide motorists and pedestrians as well as domestic and foreign tourists prompt and reliable assistance.

Agas-Agas Bridge Foundation Protection Project Completed

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Southern Leyte District Engineering Office (DPWH-SLDEO) has completed the P67 million project designed to protect the foundation of Agas-Agas viaduct, the country’s tallest bridge.

The second and third phase of the project, which costs P47 million and P11 million, respectively is now complete while the first phase (P9 million) was completed January last year.

The project includes the installation of gabions and stone masonry near the bridge foundation, which will serve as scour protection during rainy days.

DPWH Reactivates "Lakbay-Alalay" on Holy Week

Department of Public Works and Highways motorist assistance teams will be on duty along major thoroughfares to help travelers this coming Lenten break.

DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson has instructed all Regional Directors and District Engineers nationwide to reactivate its motorist assistance program dubbed as “Lakbay Alalay” from March 21-28, 2016.

Lakbay Alalay teams composed of DPWH personnel and mechanics ready with equipment and service vehicles will be placed in strategic locations along national roads where there are influx of motorists.

Travel Advisory: Diokno Highway in Calaca Now Open to Light Vehicles

The Department of Public Works and Highways announced the re-opening for light vehicles of Diokno Highway (formerly Tagaytay Junction-Calaca-Lemery Road) in Calaca, Batangas.

Based on report from DPWH Batangas First District Engineering Office, the previously closed 90-lineal meters section at K072±1004 to K091+88 due to vertical settlement caused by Typhoon “Nona” has been restored through temporary repair measures.

In the meantime, heavy vehicles bound to Lemery, Batangas are advised to take Tagaytay-Nasugbu Road to Palico-Balayan-Batangas City Road as alternate route.

DPWH Opens Summer Job for Youth

College students and out-of-school youth are welcomed to participate in the summer government internship program (GIP) of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson said the DPWH Head Office will accept another batch of 50 interns for learn and work experience in government this summer which will be provided with daily stipend 75% of the minimum wage in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Buses and Trucks Plying Maharlika Highway in Camarines Sur to Take Detour Routes

Buses and cargo trucks going to and from Camarines Sur and Albay will have to follow a rerouting scheme effective March 3, 2016 due to replacement works of San Miguel bridge along Daang Maharlika in Nabua, Camarines Sur.

In his report to Department of Public Works and Highways Region 5 Director Reynaldo Tagudando, DPWH Camarines Sur 4th OIC-District Engineer Nestor P. Gorimbao said that the old two-lane San Miguel Bridge in Barangay San Miguel, Nabua, Camarines Sur will be closed to traffic but with access to the constructed detour bridge limited for light vehicles only.
