2 New Flood Control Structures Protect Castillejos Residents in Zambales

Residents in the Municipality of Castillejos in Zambales are now protected by two (2) newly-completed flood control structures that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) built along the Pamatawan River.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, Region 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino identified the completed structures as the 374-linear meter revetment wall on steel sheet pile foundation and another 336-lineal meter slope protection along the sections of Pamatawan River in Barangays Looc and San Agustin, respectively.

DPWH Making Steady Progress in the Construction of Panguil Bay Bridge

The on-going design and build of Panguil Bay Bridge Project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is progressing steadily.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, Undersecretary for Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) Operations Emil K. Sadain said that overall progress for the construction of Panguil Bay Bridge, an inter-island mega bridge connecting Tangub City, Misamis Occidental and Tubod, Lanao Del Norte, is at 56 percent to date.

DPWH Reopens More Roads in CAR, Region 1

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has reopened more roads to assist in the relief operations being undertaken by the local and national government agencies in quake-affected areas in Northern Luzon.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that as of 12:00 noon Thursday, July 28, 2022, 17 out of 21 road sections previously affected by the earthquake were reopened to traffic. The additional roads declared passable to traffic are Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road in Benguet; Banaue-Hungduan-Benguet Boundary Road in Ifugao; and Cervantes-Aluling-Bontoc Road in Ilocos Sur.

Citing a report from the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance, DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan identified reopened national road sections as the following:

1) Abra - Kalinga Road
2) Abra - Ilocos Norte Road
3) Abra-Cervantes Road.

Situational Report on National Roads and Bridges Status as of 6PM July 27, 2022

Eight (8) road sections are closed to traffic: five (5) in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and three (3) in Region I due to safety reasons, rockfall, soil collapse and landslide.

All other national roads and bridges in other affected regions are passable to all types of vehicles as of captioned date and time.

1. Kennon Road - Not Passable due to safety purposes, installed warning signs
