Villar: DPWH Rolls Out 24/7 Construction in Key Projects in Metro Manila

Following the mandate of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar rolls out the 24/7 construction of key projects in urban centers nationwide.

“We have a traffic crisis we intend to solve in the next two to three years. The Philippines have had an infrastructure deficit in the last four decades. There is a clamor not only to address the deficiencies but also to propose an infrastructure program that would eventually ease traffic in our major urban centers,” Villar noted.

Diokno Highway in Calaca, Batangas Closed to Traffic

The traveling public is advised that the road section located along Diokno Highway (formerly known as Tagaytay- Junction – Calaca - Lemery Road) in Barangay Tamayo, Calaca, Batangas is closed to all types of vehicles.

According to DPWH Batangas 1st DEO District Engineer Juliana D. Vergara, the road section of Diokno Highway particularly at KM0072+560 to KM0072+460 is closed to traffic due road slip and collapsed slope protection following continuous heavy rains in the area.

Bridge in Coron Washed Out Due to LPA

Continuous heavy rains brought by low pressure area has rendered the Balolo Detour Bridge in Barangay Guadalupe, Coron, Palawan not passable.

According to Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region IV-B Director Subair S. Diron, Balolo Detour Bridge located at KM0013+913 was washed-out by floodwater.

The DPWH Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) team, with equipment resources was deployed to undertake repair works. They are likewise instructed to assist stranded commuters.

Construction Safety and Health Training Held for DPWH-6 Engineers

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 6, in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 6 and Western Visayas Safety and Health Network Inc. (WV-OSHNET Inc.) conducted a five-day training on Construction Safety and Health (COSH) at the HRT Service Center of Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U), La Paz last August 1-5, 2016.

DPWH to Bid Out Leyte's 'Great Wall' Project Next Month

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office here will proceed with the bidding of some subsections of the PHP7.9 billion tide embankment project in September after months of design changes and consultations.

Changes in project specifications particularly in some parts of Palo, Leyte have been approved by the DPWH Central Office, said DPWH Eastern Visayas Regional Director Edgar B. Tabacon.

DPWH to Build Evacuation Centers

Two (2) evacuation centers are proposed to be constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 6.

The proposed projects is in line with the Department’s effort to harmonize the design of the evacuation centers in coordination with the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
