DPWH opens New Centennial Bongo Bridge in Nueva Era, Ilocos Norte

Motorists can now use the new 2-lane Centennial Bongo Bridge along Ilocos Norte-Abra Road in Barangay Poblacion, Nueva Era, Ilocos Norte.

In his report to Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Region I Director Ronnel M. Tan said that the newly-constructed bridge spanning 245.9 meters was recently opened to permanently replace the old Bongo Bridge traversing Padsan River.

DPWH joins Kalibo Ati-Atihan Festival 2019

Employees of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Aklan District Engineering Office, headed by District Engineer Noel L. Fuentebella (right) and Assistant District Engineering Leo P. Personnel from regional office, other district offices, and even from central office also participated in the religious sadsad or merrymaking/dancing in the streets.

Samar 1st DEO hailed as an Eco-friendly Office

The Department of Public Works and Highways recognizes Samar First District Engineering Office as one of the Eco-friendly District Engineering Office for its compliance to the environmental programs, policies and efforts on environmental management, protection and conservation.

The certificate of recognition was awarded by Sec. Mark Villar to Assistant District Engineer Denis Cagomoc last December 17, 2018 at DPWH- Central Office in Manila.

DPWH Samar I recognizes deserving employees

The Department of Public Works and Highways - Samar First District Engineering Office recognized the outstanding employees for the exceptional work they performed in the past year.

The awarding ceremony was held during the 2018 DPWH Christmas party last December 20, 2018 at the DPWH Covered Court. The awardees were Mr. Bonifacio S. Mensorado, Mr. Emilio G. Barcoma, Mr. Edgar P. Lauron and Mr. Jeffrey A. Mañozo.

4th Quarterly PIO meeting cum workshop

Hosted by Northern Samar First and Northern Samar Second district engineering office, the 4th quarter PIO conference commences at Laoang, Northern Samar last December 13-14, 2018.

Attended by PIO designates, alternates and staffs from the thirteen district engineering offices, the conference formally started with the presentation of participants led by RPAIO Antonieta R. Lim.

DPWH undergoes disaster mitigation, preparedness and response seminar

Two area personnel from the Maintenance Section of DPWH – Samar First District Engineering Office, Engr. Jeremias Lim and Engr. Ronalie Pelotos, attended the seminar on Disaster Mitigation, Preparedness and Response Program (DMPR) on January 17-18, 2019 at the Summit Hotel, Tacloban City.

The two-day program was attended by almost 100 area engineers and representatives from the different District Engineering offices within the region. Assistant Regional Director Eric Ayapana warmly welcomed all participants and speakers during his welcome remarks.

Contractors’ monthly coordination meeting held

The Department of Public Works and Highways – Samar First District Engineering Office conducted a monthly coordination meeting last January 9, 2019, 9:00 AM at DPWH Conference Room.

The meeting is spearheaded by District Engineer Alvin Ignacio together with the project engineers and contractors. The main agenda of the meeting revolved around the plans and Program of Works (POWs) of multi-stories school building (SB) projects, technical aspects of project implementation and the real status of the contract documents.

Calbayog – Catarman road now cleared

The Calbayog – Catarman road going through Brgy. Cagbayang, Oquendo District, Calbayog City suffered slope failure brought about by the continuous heavy rains of tropical storm Usman.

The slope failure happened around eight (8) in the morning of December 30, 2018 rendering the whole road unpassable to all types of vehicles. Fortunately, no one was harmed.

Maintenance Point Person (MPP) Mario Balane and his team arrived at 9 AM to begin the clearing operations. Warning signs are installed and traffic advisories are posted to redirect traffic to the Calbayog – Allen Road.
