Samar Pacific Coastal Road Project now 30% completed

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has paved more than four (4) kilometers of the 11.6-kilometer Samar Pacific Coastal Road Project despite various typhoons that hit Eastern Visayas in 2019.

DPWH Undersecretary for Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) and Technical Services Emil K. Sadain reported to DPWH Secretary Villlar that as of end of December 2019, the 1.17-Billion Samar Pacific Coastal Road Project in Northern Samar is 30 percent completed.

Residents and patients from Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, and Abra will soon have more accessible healthcare facilities with the ongoing construction of the satellite hospital of Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) in Candon City, Ilocos Sur.
Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar is confident that the new 18,439-square meter satellite hospital will provide convenience to patients who are far from the main ITRMC in San Fernando City, La Union.

DPWH still clearing road in Taft, Eastern Samar due to localized heavy rains

As of Monday, January 6, 2019, two (2) sections of Wright-Taft-Borongan Road in Barangay Binaloan, Taft, Eastern Samar are still being cleared due to rock fall brought by intermittent heavy rain in the area.

In her report to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Region VIII Director Nerie D. Bueno said that the K0872+000 Section of Wright-Taft-Borongan Road is temporary closed due to ongoing clearing operation.

A new four-storey school building was recently completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to address the significant demand for classrooms in Camarin D Elementary School in Caloocan City.
DPWH National Capital Region Director Ador G. Canlas said the new school building costing P48.46 Million was built to cope with the increasing number of enrollees of public elementary students.

DPWH opens New Centennial Bongo Bridge in Nueva Era, Ilocos Norte

Motorists can now use the new 2-lane Centennial Bongo Bridge along Ilocos Norte-Abra Road in Barangay Poblacion, Nueva Era, Ilocos Norte.

In his report to Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Region I Director Ronnel M. Tan said that the newly-constructed bridge spanning 245.9 meters was recently opened to permanently replace the old Bongo Bridge traversing Padsan River.
