The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed four (4) slope protection project of roads in various towns of Aklan Province to ensure safety of the travelling public.

Secretary Mark A. Villar, said that the retaining walls along Aklan West Road in Nabas and Malay are placed intermittently in areas where frequent erosion of soil occurs especially during rainy days.

The completed slope protection structures along Aklan West Road also include reblocking and upgrading of the two-lane road and construction of concrete-lined ditch, Secretary Villar added.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that a consulting contract has been awarded which aims to privatize the operation and maintenance of the scenic zigzag road going to the summer Capital Baguio City in Benguet Province – the Kennon Road.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is on track for the 2021 opening of Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge connecting Estrella Street in Makati City and Barangka Drive in Mandaluyong City.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the expansion of the Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge—also known as the Rockwell Bridge—into a two-way, four-lane bridge is expected to greatly improve vehicular movement between the two (2) highly urbanized cities of Metro Manila.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between DPWH and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have been signed for loan application in an effort to commence the construction of three (3) new proposed bridges crossing Marikina River.
