DPWH Completes 180-Capacity Barracks in Zamboanga Del Sur

In support to the country’s military troops in Western Mindanao, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has constructed a billeting facility in Upper Pulacan, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur to serve as operational and lodging facility for the Philippine Army - 1st Infantry Division.

To serve as the second home for the military unit which is also known as the Tabak Division, Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the implementation of the two-storey barracks worth P7.12-million is part of the Department’s efforts in aiding the government forces with their daily operations.

Villar: Katipunan Avenue Extension Project to open this year

Motorists going to Batasan and San Mateo, Rizal can soon expect faster trips with the significant progress of the 3.38-kilometer Katipunan Avenue Extension project in Quezon City.

During his inspection, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar expressed optimism that the project will soon be able to cater the increasing demand for alternate route from Katipunan to Barangay Batasan Hills and towards the Province of Rizal to ease the traffic situation at Katipunan and Commonwealth Avenues in Quezon City.

DPWH Completes P43-M Bridge Widening Project in Salug, Zamboanga del Norte

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced the completion of a newly-widened bridge that now serves motorists traversing Sindangan-Liloy Road, in the town of Salug, Province of Zamboanga del Norte.

Secretary Villar said that the widening of Canawan Bridge in Barangay Canawan, Salug from two (2) lanes to four (4) lanes is expected to ease congestion of vehicles and improve the delivery of goods and services for the locals in the area.

The newly-completed project also involves slope protection work to avoid or minimize erosion or soil disturbance.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that improvement works of an access road leading to the famous Kaangrian Falls in Burgos, Ilocos Norte has been completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

“The newly-completed access road will now serve as a faster and safer route as it cuts down the usual travel time of one (1) hour from town proper of Burgos, Ilocos Norte to Kaangrian Falls in Barangay Paayas to just 40 minutes,” said Secretary Villar.
