DPWH projects seen to support tourism in Boracay

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently implementing two (2) major road projects that is seen to provide ease to travelers of the world famous Boracay Island in the province of Aklan.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar recently conducted an inspection of the ongoing projects which include the construction of an access road leading to Caticlan Airport and the rehabilitation of Boracay Circumferential Road.

DPWH builds new road connecting towns of Central Iloilo

A new road project that will connect the towns of Leon and Alimodian in the central part of Iloilo province is currently being undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Iloilo Fourth District Engineering Office.

The project, in the amount of P17.014 Million, involves opening of new 1.9-kilometer Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) from Brgy. Bobon in Leon to Brgy. Manasa in Alimodian.

Guimaras roads prepared for Holy Week

The province of Guimaras is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Western Visayas especially during Lent Season where the famous “Pagtaltal” is held.

Considering the volume of foreign and local tourists that may flock the province, whether for religious observance this Holy Week or simply going on a vacation in the island, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Guimaras Distirct Engineering Office ensures that national roads are prepared for motorists and the traveling public.

Region IV-A conducts 1st contractors’ meeting for CY 2018

Aiming to finish proposed projects ahead of time, Regional Director (RD) Samson L. Hebra warmly welcomed contractors and project engineers in the administered 1st Contractors’ Meeting at the Region’s Conference Room, January 9.

Attended by its respective contractors of all active projects, RD Hebra reminded every contractor to start projects early, advance project when necessary and to expedite work.

“The faster the survey, the faster the plan. Let’s see how further we can enhance the implementation of the project,” RD Hebra said.

DPWH readies “Lakbay Alalay” Program for Holy Week

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will reactivate its “Lakbay Alalay” Program to provide motorists and commuters as well as local and foreign tourists prompt and reliable assistance this Holy Week.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar ordered field offices nationwide to reactivate the Department’s motorist assistance program starting at 12:00 noon on Holy Wednesday, March 28, 2018 until 12:00 noon on Monday, April 2, 2018.

DPWH paves road leading to famous falls in Zamboanga del Sur

Tourists and residents can now experience a safer and smoother travel as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed the upgrading of national highway leading to Alegria Falls in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.

With a total budget allotment of P18.7-million, the project involves the concreting of 1.97 kilometers of road with lined canal and grouted riprap.

The road improvement will further boost tourism and economic development in Zamboanga Peninsula.
