DPWH resumes repair of EDSA and C-5 this weekend

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will conduct repair and maintenance in two (2) sections of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) and Circumferential Road 5 (C-5) starting 11 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2019 until 5 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2019.

DPWH – National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) Director Ador G. Canlas said that road rehabilitation will cover portions at the southbound direction of EDSA, from Ermin Garcia to New York, 2nd lane from the sidewalk and at northbound direction near Magallanes MRT to KM 29, outerlane.

DPWH completes new halfway house and multipurpose building in Guimaras

The probationers, parolees and conditional pardoned will now have a new temporary home with the completion of two (2) buildings in Barangay Lanipe, Nueva Valencia, province of Guimaras.

Based on a report submitted by District Engineer Rhodora B. Nuñal to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, the completed project in the amount of P51.67-million involves the construction of two (2) structures: a halfway house and livelihood training center with a perimeter fence, parking lot, and other amenities.

DPWH completes new school buildings in Leyte and Biliran

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed new classrooms for five (5) schools in Leyte and Biliran in Eastern Visayas Region.

DPWH together with local government officials of the Provinces of Leyte and Biliran recently led the turn over ceremonies for the school buildings implemented through the Basic Education Facilities Fund, a convergence program between DPWH and Department of Education (DepEd).

DPWH extends application deadline for summer internship program to March 22

College students and out-of-school youth may still apply for the government internship program (GIP) of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Central Office until March 22, 2019.

This was announced by DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, citing the low applicant turnout of the program with original deadline of application set this Friday, March 8, 2019.

“To date, only 10 applicants submitted requirements for this paid internship program. We hope to fill all 40 slots available so we can help as much economically-disadvantaged youth as we can,” said Secretary Villar.

DPWH accepts applicants for a paid internship program this summer

No less than 40 college students and out-of-school youth can learn and earn this summer as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Central Office reopens its government internship program (GIP).

Public Works and Secretary Mark Villar said the Department’s GIP Program in the Cetral Office in Port Area, Manila is open for application to assist economically-disadvantaged youth aged 18 to 23 who have reached a minimum of second year college education.

Villar and officials of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, a company owned by Metro Pacific Investments Corporation which holds the concession rights to construct, operate and maintain the North Luzon Expressway.
