DPWH Clearing Works at PGH Substantially Completed, Goes Forward to Testing of Samples from Fire Incident

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that DPWH engineers specializing in structural analysis and material testing will evaluate the samples extracted from building structure affected by recent fire at the Philippine General Hospital.

“No one can tell the level of damage until a proper and thorough assessment and laboratory evaluation of material sample components have been done”, said Secretary Villar.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has paved a farm-to-market road linking the far-flung area of Sitio Tis-an of Barangay Isio to other communities in Cauayan, Negros Occidental.

Going to scenic Binadlan Falls in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental has become easier and safer with the Department of Public Works and Highway’s (DPWH) completed construction of a 2.5-kilometer access road leading to the area.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the P63.53-million road improvement project completed in February 2021 was implemented by the DPWH Negros Occidental 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO).

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will conduct road reblocking and repair along portions of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and C-5 Road this weekend, starting at 11:00 pm Friday, May 21, 2021 until 5:00 am Monday, May 24, 2021.

Citing a report from DPWH NCR Director Eric A. Ayapana, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar identified sections for repair along EDSA as the north bound direction near corner Kaingin Road, Quezon City covering 60.75 square meters, as well as its south bound to A. Bonifacio Avenue, first lane from sidewalk which is 200 square meters.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is about to roll out the construction of two (2) 2.3 kilometer tunnel which corresponds to the central portion of the Davao City Bypass Construction Project in Southern Mindanao financed by Official Development Assistance (ODA) of the Government of Japan thru Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that essential machinery have started to arrive in the Philippines for the road tunnel construction which is expected to develop Filipino skilled workers with new technical know-how.

DPWH To Lead Clean Up and Conduct Assessment of Fire Damaged Portion of PGH

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that structural assessment will be conducted by DPWH to determine the degree of damage of the recent fire incident at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) Building in Taft Avenue, Manila.

Secretary Villar said that mapping of damage to the structure will be immediately carried out by the DPWH once the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has given the PGH management the go signal to proceed with clearing of the affected fire areas at the third floor service wing building.
