Improved access road eases travel to White Beaches in Ubay, Bohol

An improved access road recently completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now ensures safe and convenient travel to Tapal Wharf and White Beaches in Barangay Tapal, Ubay, Bohol.

Citing a report from DPWH Region 7 Director Edgar Tabacon, Secretary Mark Villar said that the road project will provide ease of access to ports and tourist destinations and eventually promote socio-economic development in the municipality of Ubay.

Newly-Build School Buildings in Zamboanga Peninsula Ready for Face-to-Face Classes

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of two (2) school building projects in Zamboanga Peninsula.

According to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, a 2-storey school building with four (4) classrooms worth P7-million can now accommodate future enrollees of Lumayang Elementary School in Barangay Lumayang, Zamboanga City.

“In preparation for face-to-face classes, we will continue to implement school building projects to cater to more students and educators while ensuring the safety of all,” said Secretary Villar.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has assisted the growing coconut industry in Sanchez Mira, Cagayan with the construction of a 123-lineal meter access road leading to coconut growers in the town.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the DPWH Cagayan 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) implemented the P2-million project, which was funded through the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

Rehabilitation of Biliran Bridge to Start this July

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently announced that starting July 2021, restoration of the weakening Biliran Bridge will be implemented.

According to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, the P50-million project involves the rehabilitation of bearings of the bridge, repair of bridge deck, replacement of bolts, de-rusting, repainting and retrofitting of the bridge girder using carbon fiber plate and construction of field office for the maintenance crew under the bridge.

P46.26-Million Flood Control Structures Protect Community in Zamboanga City

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of flood mitigation structures along Miluao River in Zamboanga City, protecting the nearby community of Barangay Patalon come rainy season.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the DPWH Zamboanga City District Engineering Office (DEO) implemented the project in two (2) phases, with civil works done from February 2020 to March 2021.

DPWH Clearing Works at PGH Substantially Completed, Goes Forward to Testing of Samples from Fire Incident

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that DPWH engineers specializing in structural analysis and material testing will evaluate the samples extracted from building structure affected by recent fire at the Philippine General Hospital.

“No one can tell the level of damage until a proper and thorough assessment and laboratory evaluation of material sample components have been done”, said Secretary Villar.
