New road opened for residents of isolated village in Samar

Boats will no longer be the only transportation mode to Barangay San Pelayo, in the Municipality of Gandara, Samar as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) constructed a new road opening connected to the nearest barangay for the residents.

Based on a report from DPWH Region 8 Director Nerie Bueno, Public Works Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the new 3.64-kilometer road connecting Barangay San Agustin to Barangay San Pelayo is now benefitting more than 1,700 residents.

Road users laud gov’t over new Cebu City underpass

Days after its opening, more than 20,000 motorists are now benefitting from the new N. Bacalso and F. Llamas Underpass in Cebu City.

Commuters expressed gratitude to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the two (2) lane underpass that has now increased road capacity going to the southern part of the city.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Region 7 Director Edgar Tabacon said that the P724-million underpass involves the construction of service road and transition approaches, drainage facilities, and pumping station.

DPWH completes 10-km road improvement project in Libon, Albay

A 10-kilometer portion of Albay West Coast Road has been fully reconstructed and asphalted and now serves better access in four (4) barangays of Libon town, Albay Province.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said the Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) Roads Management Cluster (Bilateral) implemented the project in the amount of P189.08 million which covers the Libon-Pantao-Pioduran Road Section from Barangay Pantao to Apud, traversing Barangays Talin-Talin and Rawis.

DPWH celebrates 121st Anniversary

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will be turning 121 years this coming Sunday, June 23, 2019.

On its 121st Anniversary, the Department headed by Secretary Mark A. Villar unveiled its theme “DPWH: Gabay Tungo sa Konkretong Pag-unlad,” and is holding a week-long celebration in the Central, Regional and District Engineering Offices nationwide.

Construction of new drainage line in Sampaloc, Manila now on its third phase

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has started works for the third phase of the M. Earnshaw (formerly Bustillos Street) Drainage Main Project expected to minimize frequent flooding in the area of Sampaloc, Manila.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that the construction of the third phase of the project along J. Fajardo Street to S.H. Loyala Street in Sampaloc, Manila, with a total cost of P27.4-million, is now in full swing.
