DPWH 122nd Anniversary

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) holds on to its commitment to serve the Filipinos as it dedicate the 122nd Founding Anniversary today, June 23, 2020 towards government's effort in fighting COVID-19.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar said that traditional anniversary fanfare programs will be set aside due to the prevailing threat of the coronavirus disease.

Villar: TPLEX Pozorrubio to Rosario Section to Open by July 15

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that the final segment of the 88.85 kilometer-Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) will be open to motorists by July 15.

Secretary Villar said that the completion and opening of the 11-kilometer Pozorrubio, Pangasinan to Rosario, La Union Section is seen to drastically reduce travel time from Tarlac to Rosario by an hour from the current 3.5 hours.

Offsite dormitories for QC medical frontliners ready by end of June

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar inspected Friday, June 19, 2020 the on-going six (6) cluster dormitories inside Quezon Memorial Circle to be completed at the end of June 2020.

DPWH through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) is assisting the local government of Quezon City put up ‘We Heal as One Offsite Dormitory’ solely for use by doctors, nurses and other medical professionals working in hospitals within the territorial jurisdiction of Quezon City and need space to rest between shifts.

DPWH improves section of Abra-Kalinga-Apayao Road

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that construction of the Buluan-Banban-Puguin-Sacpil-Pinukpuk section of Abra-Kalinga-Apayao Road in the Municipality of Conner, Apayao is set for completion by the second quarter of 2020.

Citing a report from DPWH Apayao First District Engineer Alberto Gahid, Secretary Villar said that the construction of the Abra-Kalinga-Apayao Road Section is being fast tracked to improve mobility of the residents and tourists traversing the national road.

P47M road slope protection completed in Leyte

The Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) has completed a road slope protection structure along section of Cabungon-Tabunok-Consuguera Road in Villaba town, Leyte province.

According to Region 8 Director Nerie Bueno, the newly-completed project involves the construction of a 1,760-square meter slope protection with a total cost of P47-million.

“The slope will help avoid the abrupt collapse of weakened slopes along the road that could be brought by heavy rainfall and natural ground movement. This will prevent future landslides and road closures, ” said Bueno.

DPWH Marks 122nd Anniversary on June 23

The 122nd Founding Anniversary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) this Tuesday, June 23, 2020 is dedicated towards government's effort in fighting COVID-19.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar said that traditional anniversary fanfare programs will be set aside due to the prevailing threat of the coronavirus disease.

This is in consonance with the health and safety protocols prescribed by the National Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) under the general community quarantine (GCQ), which prohibit, among others, mass gatherings.

Road upgrading project along Sarangani-Davao del Sur Coastal Road almost complete

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is presently undertaking the upgrading of the 1.5-kilometer damaged pavement along Sarangani-Davao del Sur Coastal Road in Malapatan, Sarangani.

The project, which was started in June 2019 and targeted to be completed by March 2020, involves the rehabilitation and repair of inner lanes of the coastal road that connects the town of Malapatan to other municipalities, cities, and provinces.

New bypass road in Baguio City underway

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that a new diversion road in Baguio City will soon provide another alternate route the Summer Capital of the Philippines.

“Soon, motorists can use the new 2-lane Baguio-Bauang Road to Quezon Hill Road 1 as a new route to Baguio’s Central Business District and La Trinidad Benguet, easing traffic along Quirino Highway or Baguio-Bauang Road,” said Secretary Villar.

P140.95M improvement projects in Agusan Del Norte, ongoing

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is improving portions of Butuan-Cagayan de Oro-Iligan Road or BCIR along the municipalities of Carmen and Nasipit, Agusan del Norte.

The ongoing P89.4 million road widening project in Barangay Tagcatong, Carmen covering 2.03 kilometers or 14,833 square meters of portland concrete cement pavement is seen to facilitate easier transition on the curved road, ensuring the safety of motorists.
