The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently undertaking the construction of Lower Agusan Riverbank protection structure costing P289.5-million along Agao-Urduja-PPA Section with the purpose of mitigating severe flooding in the heart of Butuan City, Agusan del Sur.

Citing a report from Regional Director Pol M. Delos Santos of DPWH Region 13, Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the project involves construction of a 1.5-kilometer river wall with the provision of concrete service road.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar together with Philippine Marine Corps Brigadier General Ariel R. Caculitan led on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 the ceremonial groundbreaking of a multi-purpose building project at the Marine Base - Camp Gregorio Lim, in Ternate, province of Cavite.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently completed a new flood control structure along the right bank of the Marikina River in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City to protect citizens against flooding.

Secretary Mark Villar said that the P93-million project covers the construction of a 152-linear meter river wall with slope protection consisting of concrete piles, reinforced concrete structures as well as riprap and masonry work in Vista Real Subdivision, Phase II.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced the completion of a multi-million flood control structure that will help in mitigating flooding in the municipality of Nabua in Camarines Sur.

Secretary Villar said that with a budget cost of 130-million, the 2.54-kilometer river walls were completed along critical sections of Waras River in the municipalities of Sta. Elena and Sta. Lucia which are frequented by overflowing of river especially in the occurence of typhoons and heavy rains.
