Villar: Burned portion of Skyway Stage 3 replaced

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that the section of Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 that collapsed due to fire in February 2020 has already been replaced as concessionaire Citra Central Expressway Corporation (CCEC) rushes civil works of the project to make up for unforeseen delay.

“As of latest report, lower and upper coping beams for pier 3, 4, 5 were reconstructed, and deck slab for spans 5 and 6 were completed as well. These were the burned sections from the fire incident,” said Secretary Villar.

DPWH to extend CDO Coastal Road by 9km

The Department of Public Works and Highways is proposing in its 2021 budget the inclusion of Cagayan de Oro Coastal Road Phase 2 that will extend the road from Barangay Puerto in Opol, Misamis Oriental to Barangay Gusa, Cagayan De Oro City.

“To further ease mobility in the city, we hope to extend additional 9.30 kilometers of road which will be under Phase 2 of the project starting next year,” said Secretary Mark A. Villar.

Villar: 18 rainwater collectors installed in Biliran

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has put up 18 rainwater harvesting faciliites in various schools and government buildings of Biliran Province in an effort to conserve water resources.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, citing District Engineer David P. Adongay of DPWH Biliran District Engineering Office’s report, said that in the amount of P4.5 million, rainwater collector systems were installed to accumulate rainwater from the roof of buildings rather than letting it run off.

Road restoration works in Zamboanga Sibugay completed

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed its emergency maintenance works on several unpaved sections of the on-going road project in Zamboangay Sibugay Province.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that repair and restoration were conducted at the five (5) slippery and muddy sections of Lutiman-Guicam-Olutanga Road after this on-going road improvement project implemented by the DPWH Unified Project Management Office Roads Management Cluster 2 (UPMO-RMC 2) have been hit hard by heavy rainfall in the area.

P4.36-B Bypass Road in La Union underway

Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that travel time between Bauang to the surfing town of San Juan in the Province of La Union will soon be reduced by 50 percent.

We are constructing the Bauang - San Fernando - San Juan Bypass Road that will cut the one-hour travel from Bauang via Manila North Road to just thirty (30) minutes, said Secretary Villar.

The multi-year funded project started in 2018 involves the construction of a four lanes 22.19-kilometer bypass road including six (6) bridges with a total length of 1,281 lineal meters.

2 Multi-Purpose Buildings rehabilitated in Tuao, Cagayan

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) had completed the rehabilitation of two (2) multipurpose buildings in Tuao, Cagayan to serve as temporary refuge of residents during emergencies.

In his report to Secretary Mark A. Villar and Region 2 Director Loreta M. Malaluan, Cagayan Third District Engineer Danilo U. Tabilas said that the multipurpose buildings located in Barangays Bugnay and Villalaida were fast-tracked for completion to serve as evacuation area during onslaught of strong typhoons and other calamities.
