2 Multi-Purpose Buildings rehabilitated in Tuao, Cagayan

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) had completed the rehabilitation of two (2) multipurpose buildings in Tuao, Cagayan to serve as temporary refuge of residents during emergencies.

In his report to Secretary Mark A. Villar and Region 2 Director Loreta M. Malaluan, Cagayan Third District Engineer Danilo U. Tabilas said that the multipurpose buildings located in Barangays Bugnay and Villalaida were fast-tracked for completion to serve as evacuation area during onslaught of strong typhoons and other calamities.

P50-Million DPWH multi-purpose gym in Cagayan halfway complete

The Department of Public Works and Highways reported an ongoing construction of a P50-million multi-purpose gymnasium inside its Cagayan 2nd District Engineering Office compound in Barangay Libertad, Abulug, Cagayan.

The civil works on the gymnasium is implemented by DPWH Cagayan 2nd DEO and has already reached 58 percent of actual construction accomplishment.

District Engineer Lorna Austen said that the gymnasium will be equipped with car parking lots, storage, locker room, and toilet facilities once completed.

DPWH completes flood control project in Benito Soliven, Isabela

Residents of Benito Soliven, Isabela now benefit from the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) recently completed flood control project along the section of Pinacanauan River.

DPWH Isabela 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO) implemented the construction of the project which was completed in August 2020.

According to District Engineer Editha R. Babara of DPWH Isabela 3rd DEO, the flood control structure now directly safeguards residents of Barangays Maluno Norte, Maluno Sur, and nearby communities that rely on agriculture for their livelihood.

Restoration of typhoon-damaged road in Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya now 65% complete

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is more than halfway done with the restoration works along portions of Papaya-Malabing-Wangal-Binogawan-Tadji-Runruno Road after being badly-hit by typhoon Tisoy in December 2019.

District Engineer Glenn C. Miguel of DPWH Nueva Vizcaya 2nd District Engineering Office said that the ongoing project which covers the repair of roadslip/eroded shoulder of the road amounting to P18.5 million.

Additional 17 isolation facilities completed in Region 8

The Department of Public Works and Highways has completed the conversion and construction of 17 additional quarantine facilities that augmented Eastern Visayas’ COVID-19 bed capacity by 800.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, citing DPWH Regional Office 8 Director Nerie D. Bueno report announced that two (2) facilities were completed in September, 10 in August, five (5) in July and one (1) more is underway and is targeted to be completed before the end of this month.

New multipurpose building benefits elderly, PWDs in Zamboanga City

A single-storey multipurpose building was purposely built for the senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Barangay Ayala, Zamboanga City.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia said that the new multipurpose building which was completed in the amount of P2.51 was implemented by DPWH Zamboanga City District Engineering Office in the span of three (3) months.

The building can now be utilize as a venue for outreach and medical mission programs for elderly and PWDs in the city.

DPWH rushes asphalting project along Siargao’s Dapa-General Luna Road

A 2.04-kilometer portion of 2-lane Dapa-General Luna Road in Barangay Osmeña in Dapa town, Siargao Island is being improved and asphalted to provide smoother driving experience to locals and tourists.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said that asphalting of Dapa-General Luna Road is among the priority projects in Siargao Island as it is widely-used and leads motorists to the famous surfing spot at Cloud 9 in the municipality General Luna.

P25-M river wall to protect 5 barangays in Zamboanga del Norte

The Department of Public Works and Highways has completed a 127.2-meter revetment structure that will serve as a flood-control wall along Dionum Bridge Upstream, Dipolog River in Zamboanga del Norte.

Citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 9, Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the new river wall which was completed one (1) month ahead of schedule now benefits Barangays Dionum, Lower Gumay, Calican, and Del Pilar in Piñan town and Sianib in the municipality of Polanco.

DPWH Readies More Healthcare Facilities in Negros Occidental

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that DPWH COVID-19 response is underway in Negros Occidental with the construction of various healthcare facilities in Bacolod City and other areas of the province.

Secretary Villar said that his formed Task Force to Facilitate Augmentation of National and Local Health Facilities with Regional Office 6 is ramping up construction activities of healthcare facilities to support urgent needs created by the recent spike of local transmissions of COVID-19 in Bacolod City.
