DPWH Completes Vital Projects in La Union

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed two (2) vital projects to enhance road safety and accessibility in La Union.

In his report to Secretary Manuel M Bonoan, DPWH La Union 1st District Engineer Jose G. Ginete, Jr. identified the completed projects in the Province of La union as the 192-linear-meter concrete dike along Baroro River in Barangay Sta. Rosa, San Juan and the 483-meter farm-to-market road linking Barangay Pao Sur and Barangay Pao Norte in San Fernando City.

DPWH Ensures Road Safety of Traslacion Route

Road maintenance activities are now being undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) along the route of the Black Nazarene Grand Procession or “Traslacion” slated on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

In her report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH National Capital Region Director Loreta M. Malaluan said that the DPWH North and South District Engineering Offices (DEOs) were instructed to fix defects and other road hazards, following a joint inspection with the Feast of the Black Nazarene Committee.

Paved Tourism Road Improves Accessibility in Gigantes Island

Access to various tourist spots in Gigantes Island of Western Visayas Region is now more convenient following the concrete paving of road by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the municipality of Carles, Iloilo.

Scope of works of the completed project include the construction of an 8.86-kilometer, 2-lane, portland concrete cement pavement (PCCP) road with 1.5-meter shoulder on both sides, with provision of slope protection.

3 Flood Control Structures Built Along Waterways of Dinalupihan, Bataan

Three (3) flood control structures completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) along the Pentor-Balsik, Pagalanggang, and Pita Rivers all in Dinalupihan, Bataan now ensure protection of locals against water overflow in times of torrential rains.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing reports from DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, identified the Barangays of Daang Bago, Old San Jose, and Pita as the recipient communities of protective structures built by the DPWH Bataan First District Engineering Office (DEO).

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is undertaking river dredging works in Samar and Leyte to alleviate flooding.

Citing reports from DPWH Region 8 Director Edgar B. Tabacon, DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that 11 units of dredging equipment to desilt major waterways in Eastern Visayas Region are already operational.

Amphibious excavators have been deployed to Sta. Sofia Canal in Padre Burgos; Hilongos, Leyte; Mangonbangon River in Tacloban City, Leyte; Bangon River, Palo, Leyte; and in Canturing River in Maasin City, Southern Leyte.
