DPWH Builds 200 School Buildings in Cagayan Valley

The Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office 2 (DPWH-2) has accomplished a total of 200 school building projects in Cagayan Valley under the 2016 Basic Educational Facilities Fund (BEFF) of the Department of Education (DepEd). The newly constructed school buildings worth ₱1.52 billion aim to address the lack of school facilities in the region following the full implementation of the K-12 program.

DPWH Upgrades Cabagan-Sta.Maria Road

The Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office 02 has completed the improvement of the Cabagan–Sta. Maria road in Sta. Maria, Isabela.

The P75.3-million project includes the pavement of 23-centimeters thick road shoulders and 1.5-meters wide added to the entire road stretch that ranges to 2553.6 meters.

Reblocking works were also conducted along the road with its carriage fully concreted to provide more convenient travel among the motorists.

DPWH Widens Bangag-Magapit Road

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the widening of the Bangag-Magapit road in Allacapan, Cagayan.

Undertaken by Regional Office 2, the road widening project includes the pavement of 2.53 kilometers of concrete shoulder with a width of 6.70 meters and thickness of 0.3 meters to both lanes of the road stretch.

Drainage system was also built along the road section to mitigate flooding during rainy season.

The construction of the ₱69.3-million project started in February and was completed in December 2016.

DPWH Improves Road Condition in Quirino Province

The Regional Office 2 of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) boasted 100% accomplishment on all its road projects in the province of Quirino for 2016.
The roads upgraded include the Victoria – Maddela – Alicia -Kasibu Boundary road; the NRJ Villa Sur - San Pedro - Cabua-an – Ysmael - Disimungal road, both in the municipality of Maddela; and the road sections connecting Junction Abbag - Guingin Boundary Road in the municipality of Nagtipunan.

Guardrails and chevron signs were installed to prevent vehicles from accidents.

Singson Checks Laoag Road Project

The construction of a new alternate road in Laoag City will spur more development opportunities for the northern towns of Ilocos Norte.

Secretary Rogelio L. Singson said that the on-going construction of Laoag City By-Pass Road when completed will reduce travel time of motorists especially tourists exploring scenic places of the northern Ilocos Region.
