DPWH to Construct a Diversion Road Leading to Calbayog Airport

Better economic opportunities await Calbayog City and other parts of Samar Province with the Capoocan-Dagum Diversion Road planning to be built by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Samar Province.

According to a report to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar by Region 8 Director Nerie Bueno, the proposed Capoocan-Dagum Diversion Road will start alongside Matobato Elementary School in Barangay Capoocan going through an intersection in Caramel Subdivision and Pagbalican Road until it reaches its endpoint in Calbayog Diversion Road at Barangay Dagum.

DPWH Completes Road to Scenic Anas View Deck in Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced the completion of tourism access road leading to Anas View deck in Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte.

Secretary Villar said that the then-dusty and bumpy road has been rehabilitated into a two-lane concrete tourism road providing easy access for locals and nature-loving tourists.

According to DPWH Region 8 Director Nerie Bueno, the P22.6-million access road provides tourists with scenic views of the historic island of Limasawa, Sogod Bay to the East, and Bohol Sea to the west.

New Hanging Bridge Connects Local Community in Nueva Ecija

Residents of the adjacent Barangays of Berang and San Pedro in the Municipality of Sta. Rosa in Nueva Ecija lauded the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the completion of a hanging bridge that now connects the two villages separated by a creek.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Ricardo M. Puno said that residents no longer use wooden rafts pulled by a rope to reach the other barangay with the establishment of the 97-meter bridge that provides a better and safer connection.

Widened Manila North Road Section Improves Cagayan-Ilocos Norte Connectivity

A P65.46-million road widening along the 2.61-kilometer section of the Manila North Road in Sta. Praxedes, Cagayan has been completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) allowing for a better inter-regional connectivity in the area.

In her report to Secretary Mark A. Villar, Regional Office 2 OIC-Director Loreta M. Malauan stated that the portion of Manila North Road that serves as a direct connector road of Cagayan Valley and Ilocos Region has been improved into a four-lane road from the previous two (2) lanes.
