Flood Control Project Benefits Fisherfolk in Labason, Zamboanga del Norte

A flood control project completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now protects communities in Barangay Antonino, Labason, Zamboanga del Norte.

Built along the estuary or the downstream of Labason River where the river meets the sea, the project involved the construction of a 211.4-meter steel sheet pile river wall with concrete copping, including the installation of solar street LED lights as a safety feature.

DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia said that the concrete structure now benefits residents, which consists of mostly fishing communities.

DPWH Fast-tracks Package 3 of Pulangi River Revetment Wall in Kibawe, Bukidnon

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is working on the completion of the third contract package of the Pulangi River Revetment Wall Project in Barangay Natulongan, Kibawe, Bukidnon.

In her report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Region 10 Director Lilibeth N. Aparecio said that a combined amount of ₱91.1 million has been released under the 2022 and 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA) for Packages 1 and 2, resulting in the construction of a total of 401 lineal meters of concrete bank protection along Pulangi River.

DPWH Completes P72.3-M Flood Control Rehab in Abulug, Cagayan

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the rehabilitation of flood control structures along a portion of Abulug River to address the persistent flooding in Barangay Dugo in the municipality of Abulug, Cagayan, one of the most flood-prone areas in the Cagayan Valley Region.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Region II OIC-Director Mathias L. Malenab, said that the rehabilitation of the flood control structure was funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA) with a contract amount of P72.3 million.

DPWH Intensifies Efforts for Samal Island-Davao City Connector Project

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is making significant progress on the 4.76-kilometer Samal Island-Davao City Connector (SIDC) Project, which will link Davao City and Samal Island with a four (4)-lane extradosed bridge.

In his latest inspection report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, Senior Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain highlighted the steady progress of the project, with the overall physical accomplishment at 11.87%, and a positive slippage of 4.35%.
