DPWH to conduct Sto. Niño Bridge repair

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that the southbound lane of Sto. Niño Bridge along Ninoy Aquino Avenue, Parañaque City will undergo rehabilitation works starting Thursday, August 27.

To minimize heavy traffic, a two-way zipper lane at the northbound lane of Sto. Niño Bridge will be set for motorists going north and south bounds.

According to DPWH National Capital Region Director Ador G. Canlas, the repair works which will be implemented by the Metro Manila Second District Engineering Office (MMDEO) aims to strengthen the old bridge.

DPWH Turned Carmona Evacuation Center into Quarantine Hub in Cavite

An evacuation center at Brgy Lantic, Carmona, Cavite built by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the local government unit of Carmona is now being readied as temporary facilities for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the transformation of Carmona Evacuation Center into makeshift hospital with 151 bed cubicles including provision of laundry area, nursing station, and X ray room in accordance with the recommendations of the Department of Health is target for completion and turn over by September 4, 2020.

DPWH turns over new dorms at QMC for Healthcare Workers

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) turned-over on Thursday, August 20, 2020 to the local government of Quezon City two (2) additional cluster dormitories inside Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC) as temporary staying place of medical personnel.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the accommodation facilities set-up by DPWH Task Force to Facilitate Augmentation of National and Local Health Facilities will ensure safety and efficiency in the delivery of services of our healthcare workers.

Asphalt Siargao road project nearly done

A 2.045-kilometer asphalt overlay project in Siargao Island aimed at improving the main access to the famous Cloud 9 along Dapa-General Luna road in Barangay Osmeña, Dapa, Siargao Island is nearly done, the Department of Public Works and Highways Surigao del Norte 1st District Engineering Office reported.

This Php 59.268-million project already has an accomplishment of 89.42% and is expected to be completed by the end of August 2020 despite health restrictions due to Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Heavy Rain Renders Cotabato Road One-Lane Passable

The motoring public in Central Mindanao is advised that the approach road to Diwatex Bridge along Paco-Roxas-Arakan Valley Road in Barangay Salasang, Arakan, Cotabato is temporarily one (1) lane passable due to scoured embankment materials with settlement due to heavy rain.

According to a report submitted to the Department of Public Works and Highways - Bureau of Maintenance (DPWH-BOM) by DPWH Regional Office 12, the temporary lane closure was implemented after a 20-meter portion of the road at K1684+912 - K1684+932 Salasang Section collapsed.

DPWH: Partial damage cost to infra of Masbate quake at P23.96-M

The 6.5-magnitude earthquake that hit on August 18, 2020 cost up to P23.96 million to fix the damage on national roads, bridges and other infrastructure in the Bicol Region.

On orders of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH post-earthquake assessment teams were deployed immediately on the ground to check the extent of damage of the strong earthquake that occur close to Masbate Island.

P28M project completed

Department of Public Works and Highways Zamboanga del Norte 3rd District Engineering Office completed the reconstruction of concrete pavement in Zamboanga del Norte.

The 1.0885 lane kilometer project along Piñan--Mutia Road has an allocation of P28M. With this road improvement, faster and safer commute is now experienced by the people in the area.

Sevilla Bridge Now Fully Open

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar has announced the full opening of the reconstructed Sevilla Bridge.

The Sevilla Bridge is a 4-lane bridge crossing the San Juan River connecting Shaw Boulevard in Burol, Mandaluyong City and P. Sanchez Street in Sta. Mesa, Manila

“Now that the new Sevilla Bridge is open to the traveling public, it should help decongest traffic in Metro Manila and benefit the daily motorists”, said Secretary Villar.

Villar: Sta. Monica-Lawton Bridge Project Nears Completion; to open in 2021

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that the Sta. Monica-Lawton Bridge which is a major component of the BGC-Ortigas Road Link Project is nearing its completion stage.

We are now at the stage of final pouring activities at the mid span to complete the 210-meter main superstructure that will connect across Pasig River the Lawton Avenue in Makati City and Sta. Monica Street in Pasig City, said Secretary Villar.
