DPWH to Launch ‘AYUDA’ Employment Program for Workers Displaced by Pandemic

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is set to launch on December 7, 2021 a new program that will provide assistance to individuals who lost their employment due to Covid-19 pandemic.

DPWH Acting Secretary Roger G. Mercado announced the new DPWH initiative dubbed as Assistance to Youth and Unemployed for Development and Advancement or AYUDA Program aims to address the alarming unemployment rate in the country.

More than a year of Covid-19 led to the closing of many industries and businesses, which rendered many Filipinos jobless.

DPWH Pursue SPCR Project to Pave Way for Peace and Development in Northern Samar

Even as the pandemic and adverse weather condition shut down work activities for a time, there is no stopping the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the efforts to pursue Samar Pacific Coastal Road (SPCR) Project in Northern Samar.

In his briefing to DPWH Acting Secretary Roger G. Mercado, Undersecretary and Build Build Build Build Program Chief Implementer Emil K. Sadain said that the 11.60 kilometer road project to connect the "Pacific Towns" of Laoang and Palapag, Northern Samar is already at 59 percent.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is set to complete the construction of a 4.9 kilometer bypass road project in Roxas, Isabela that aims to provide better accessibility of commuters, farmers, and traders from outlying barangays and municipalities in the area.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the implementation of the first, second, and third phases of the P271-million multi-year project has already been accomplished through DPWH Isabela 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO).

New Farm to Market Road Now Serviceable in Nueva Ecija

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a new farm to market road (FMR) to boost agricultural production and economic activities in Nueva Ecija.

Public Works and Highways Mark A. Villar expressed confidence that the new 1.6-kilometer road at Barangay Balaring in the municipality of General Mamerto Natividad will facilitate easier transport of vegetables, mangoes, and rice from and to nearby markets.
