Villar Conducts Final Inspection of 108-Bed Health Facility at Lung Center for Covid Patients

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar inspected today, August 10, 2021, the newly built offsite hospital at the Lung Center of the Philippines (LCP) compound in Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.

“I am grateful and thankful for all those involved who helped this much-needed hospital facility completed”, said Secretary Villar.

Five (5) cluster units of modular hospital facility with a total bed capacity of 108 for Covid-19 medical treatment was put up by the DPWH Task Force for Augmentation of Local/National Health Facilities.

DPWH launches Online “Bigay Trabaho”

Thousands of jobs will be up for grabs as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) launched on Monday, August 9, 2021 its nationwide virtual job fair dubbed “Bigay Trabaho”: DPWH Jobs Fair 2021.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the job fair, in partnership with the Department’s contractors nationwide, was conceptualized to provide local employment amid numerous layoffs due to COVID-19 pandemic.

New Bypass Road Enables Faster Travel to Northern Iloilo

Better access to the northern towns of Iloilo has been made possible with the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) recent completion of a 1.75-kilometer bypass road along junction Iloilo-Capiz East Coast-Capiz Road in the town of Barotac Nuevo.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the travelling public are now utilizing the recently opened four-lane, 13.4-meter wide concrete cement paved bypass road with 1.5-meter paved shoulders and slope protection structures.

Newly-concreted Hinatuan Road to spur local economy in Surigao del Sur

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently completed the concreting of a road that will improve economic activities in Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

Spanning 6.56 lane kilometers, Hinatuan Road traverses the barangays of Bitoon, Maharlika, Lacasa, Sasa, and Canabon towards the junction national highway.

“The newly-concreted Hinatuan Road will trigger various opportunities for other lucrative investments on rich raw materials endemic in the area”, said Secretary Mark Villar.

ADB-Funded Zamboanga Road Network Improvement in Full Blast

Groundwork of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for an improved new road network in Zamboanga Peninsula continues to advance despite the pandemic.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the on-going Asian Development Bank (ADB)-funded Improving Growth Corridors in Mindanao Road Sector Project implemented by DPWH Unified Project Management Office-Roads Management Cluster 2 (UPMO-RMC 2) will support the development of agribusiness, ecotourism, and logistics necessary to achieve inclusive, and sustainable growth.

DPWH constructs flood control structure, access road in Ilocos Norte

In an effort to improve quality of life in Ilocos Norte, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a new flood control structure in the Municipality of Badoc and an access road in Pasuquin town.

According to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, the flood control structure along Badoc River now protects lives and properties of residents of Barangays Bangbanga, Pagsanjan, La Virge, and Alogoong.
