DPWH Provides Slope Protection in Slide-Prone Road in Suyo, Ilocos Sur

The completion by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) of a new slope protection structure at portion of Tagudin-Cervantes Road in the Municipality of Suyo, Ilocos Sur will facilitate safer travels for motorists.

Based on a report from DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that the 85-meter shotcrete-sprayed concrete at the landslide-prone road section in Barangay Man-Atong provides protection for travelers.

Access Road to Layawan River in MisOcc Completed

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), in convergence with the Department of Tourism (DOT), recently improved a road that now facilitates better access to a tourist destination in Barangay Talic, Oroqueita City, Misamis Occidental.

Secretary Mark A. Villad identified the project as the newly paved road leading to Libatamaa Dam which showcases the clear and cool water of Layawan River.

Layawan River is considered as one the Cleanest Inland Body of Water in the Philippines.

The Department of Public Works and Highways aims to complete and open the other half of the work for the BGC-Ortigas Center Link Road Project toward the end of this third quarter.

Villar said that since the bridge component of new Sta Monica-Lawton Bridge now known as Kalayaan Bridge was opened on June 12 connecting the cities of Makati, Pasig, and Mandaluyong, DPWH has continued working the viaduct segment across Kalayaan Avenue, Makati City towards Bonifacio Global City’s 8th Avenue.

DPWH Completes Access Road to the Southern Leyte’s Fatima Hills

Tourists and local community are now benefiting from the recently-completed access road leading to Fatima Hills, among the most visited places listed as religious center in the town of Macrohon, Southern Leyte Province.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the previously dusty and bumpy 595-linear meter road was converted into a two-lane concrete paved road with line canal and slope protection.

The project, which is part of the convergence program of DPWH and the Department of Tourism (DOT), is expected to facilitate local community development.
