DPWH constructs flood control structure, access road in Ilocos Norte

In an effort to improve quality of life in Ilocos Norte, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a new flood control structure in the Municipality of Badoc and an access road in Pasuquin town.

According to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, the flood control structure along Badoc River now protects lives and properties of residents of Barangays Bangbanga, Pagsanjan, La Virge, and Alogoong.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) continues to improve roads leading to tourist destinations in the province of Cagayan, completing one (1) component with three (3) other projects underway in the town of Gonzaga.

Citing DPWH Region II Director Loreta M. Malaluan’s report, Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the Department has been working on road improvement in the municipality of Gonzaga which is home of the famous Mount Cagua, locally known as “Fire Mountain” in Cagayan Valley Region.

DPWH Continues Building Road Network in Marawi

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) continue to provide road network infrastructure towards revitalizing the economy of Marawi City.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the rehabilitation of Marawi Transcentral Road Phase 1 under a grant aid program of the Government of Japan has provided better access to basic services, increase trade, and contribute to the progressing economic activities in Marawi City, Lanao Del Sur.

DPWH Prepares Additional Hospital Beds at Lung Center for Covid Cases

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is preparing to turn-over additional hospital facilities for patients' treatment especially with the reported more transmissible Delta variant of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

DPWH Secretary and Chief Isolation Czar Mark A. Villar said that additional hospital beds will soon be available with the construction of modular health facilities that will manage a possible surge of Covid-19 patients considered severe and critical conditions that will require hospitalization.

P1.17 Billion damage to infra recorded due to Southwest Monsoon

Partial cost of damage to roads and flood-control structures due to rains brought by Southwest Monsoon has now reached P1.17 Billion.

As of 6:00 am Monday, August 2, 2021, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bureau of Maintenance reported that in Central Luzon alone, partial cost of damage to public infra is at P699.16 Million from P349.96 Million damaged roads and P301.20 Million to flood-control.

DPWH Provides Slope Protection in Slide-Prone Road in Suyo, Ilocos Sur

The completion by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) of a new slope protection structure at portion of Tagudin-Cervantes Road in the Municipality of Suyo, Ilocos Sur will facilitate safer travels for motorists.

Based on a report from DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that the 85-meter shotcrete-sprayed concrete at the landslide-prone road section in Barangay Man-Atong provides protection for travelers.
