More School Buildings This School Year for SOCCSKSARGEN

A total of 348 school buildings under Department of Education’s Basic Education Facilities Fund (BEFF) are now ready for the opening of classes in June, according to a report from DPWH Regional Office XII - Director Reynaldo S. Tamayo during the Project Status Implementation Meeting last May 16, 2016.

Under BEFF, 631 school building projects comprising of 2,510 classrooms with an aggregate cost of P 3,169,109.90 are programmed under the eight District Engineering Offices of DPWH XII.

The Department of Public Works and Highways supported the Brigada Skwela Campaign of the Department of Education through a community extension done last June 3, 2016 at the Cagayan de Oro National High School, Nazareth this city.

The DPWH team headed by Regional Director Evelyn T. Barroso, Assistant Regional Director Efren A. Berba, the Division Chiefs and the rest of the staff and personnel enthusiastically painted the landscapes of the school grounds making it look more vibrant with the creative mix of colors.

DPWH Cavite I DEO Completes School Building Project In Carmona

The Department of Public Works and Highways Cavite I District Engineering Office has joined in the turn-over ceremony of the newly constructed P40-million school building project under the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).

His Excellency President Benigno S. Aquino III led the turn-over of new 4-storey, 20-classroom structure to Carmona Elementary School in Barangay Poblacion, Carmona, Cavite, built under the “Matuwid na Daan sa Silid-Aralan” Program which aims to provide more classrooms and alleviate school building shortage in the Philippines.

DPWH Batangas III District Engineering Office together with the Honorable Congressman Nelson “Sonny” P. Collantes, 3rd District of Batangas, Honorable Mayor Daniel D. Reyes, Agoncillo, Batangas, Members of Sangguniang Bayan, Barangay Chairmen and Mrs. Maitet Collantes, inaugurated the Kulafu Bridge last April 29, 2016.

This Bridge project endorsed by Congressman Collantes is one of the significant accomplishments of the District Engineering Office.

DPWH Launches River Flow Monitoring and Management Website

A DPWH public portal that will serve as a source of open data for monitoring and management of river flows in the country will soon be available.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio L. Singson said the DPWH has partnered with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Water Security for Resilient Economic Growth and Stability (Be Secure) Project to come up with a website that will transform DPWH’s current stream flow data sets into digitized format to be used in incorporating measures to flood mitigation and management.

Quality School Buildings in Time for June Opening

To resolve the gap in student classroom ratio in Western Mindanao, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region IX fast tracks the implementation of school building projects in time for the opening of classes in June.

As of May 31, 2016, DPWH IX completed 311 classrooms while 1,139 classrooms are on-going for a total cost of Ph2.1B under the Basic Educational Facilities Fund of the Department of Education (DepEd).

MYPS and PCMA Roadshow in R7

The Department of Public Works and Highways showcased the Multi-Year Programming and Scheduling (MYPS) and the Project and Contract Management Applications in Region 7 last May 20-21, 2016.

The two-day roadshow was conducted to promote advocacy and awareness in the use of these two applications and encourage direct involvement and participation of all concerned.

DPWH Constructs Access Road to Palawan's Famous Estrella Falls

Faster and safer travel to Palawan’s Estrella Falls is currently being experienced by visitors and locals, with the recent completion of a road improvement project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The once muddy and bumpy 2.2 kilometer portion of road leading to one of the cleanest falls in the country – the Estrella Falls in Narra, Palawan, has now been concreted.
