DPWH Prepares NCR Roads for FIBA World Cup

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has undertaken various maintenance activities along roads leading to the airport, hotels, and venues of the upcoming FIBA World Cup (FIBAWC) 2023.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH National Capital Region Director Loreta M. Malaluan, said that as early as July, DPWH District Engineering Offices in Metro Manila were instructed to extend support to the Philippine Sports Commission by ensuring that the designated FIBA routes are in good condition.

Two (2) road concreting projects were recently-completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to support the agribusinesses in the town of San Mateo, Isabela – known as the “Munggo” or Mung Bean Capital of the Philippines.

Asis, said that the road improvement projects in San Mateo were implemented in convergence with the Department of Trade and Industry under Roads Leveraging Linkages of Industry and Trade (ROLL IT) Program.

Taytay Sports Complex Oval Track Completed

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has finished the construction of a P72.3 million oval track which can be used for major sporting events in the province of Taytay, Rizal.

The project entails the installation of 8,510 square meters of artificial grass for the football field and initial construction of a 59.5-meter road network for alignment 1 and 116 meters for alignment 2, according to DPWH Region IV-A Director Jovel G. Mendoza.

The project entails the installation of 8,510 square meters of artificial grass for the football field and initial construction of a 59.5-meter road network for alignment 1 and 116 meters for alignment 2, according to DPWH Region IV-A Director Jovel G. Mendoza.

The completion of a seawall project implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now protects lives and properties in Sitio Lawis, Barangay Tabgas, Albuera, Leyte.

Based on a report submitted to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan by DPWH Region 8 Director Edgar B. Tabacon, the completed P28.9-million project funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA) is a 135-meter seawall that reinforces stability to prevent coastal erosion while shielding the inland area against the abrupt rising of water.

An asphalt overlay project undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now facilitates enhanced travel safety and efficiency along the Iloilo-Capiz Road (New Route) in Roxas City, Capiz.

According to DPWH Regional Office 6 OIC-Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel, the project covers a total length of 2.05 kilometers which involves a 50-millimeter thick asphalt overlay with reflective pavement markings and additional solar studs for improved visibility.
