Slope Protection Structures Benefit Iloilo Highlanders

Four (4) slope protection structures built by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now ensure a safer and more convenient travel to upland barangays in Leon, Iloilo.

According to DPWH Region 6 OIC-Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel, the structures built along Junction Bancal-Leon-Antique Boundary Road in various barangays of Leon will prevent deterioration, spalling, and collapse of the slope due to rain scouring or weathering.

DPWH Completes Flood-Control Structure in Tumauini, Isabela; More Underway

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently built a gabion wall-type structure in Barangay Camasi, Tumauini, Isabela to avoid the overflow of Balasig Creek.

DPWH Isabela First District Engineering Office (IFDEO) carried out the project with an allocation of P19.5 million from the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA). The project measuring 402 meters was completed in May 2023.

Residents living close to rivers in the province of Pampanga now have much needed protection during times of heavy rain thanks to four (4) newly-completed slope protection structures by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing reports from DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, identified the recipient towns of the slope protection structures as the Municipalities of Porac, Guagua, and Lubao in Pampanga.

DPWH Works on Access Road Project to Masbate’s Pasiagon Beach, Balay na Bato

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently working on an access road that leads to Pasiagon Beach, Balay na Bato, and Esperanza Sea Port in the province of Masbate.

Citing a report from DPWH Regional Office V Director Virgilio C. Eduarte, DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that the ongoing road forms part of the construction and improvement of Esperanza-Placer Road which is a project under the Tourism Road Infrastructure Program (TRIP) of the DPWH in convergence with the Department of Tourism (DOT).

Typhoon ‘Egay’, Monsoon Rains Estimated Damage to Infra Now at P6.94-B

As of 12:00 noon Tuesday, August 1, 2023, the combined effects of southwest monsoon and Typhoon Egay has caused P6.94-billion damage to roads, bridges and flood-control structures.

Citing a report from the Department of Public Works and Highways Bureau of Maintenance, DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that P1.17 Billion was the reported damage on roads, P162.6 Million on bridges, and P5.60 Billion on flood-control structures.
