Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge Now 72% Complete; Q2 2021 Opening Aimed

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that come second quarter of 2021, motorists will be able to utilize the widened and modernized Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge that links Estrella Street in Makati City and Barangka Drive in Mandaluyong City.

While leading a technical inspection on Wednesday, January 6, Secretary Villar said that construction of Estrella Pantaleon Bridge is now more than 72 percent done and is 8 percent ahead of schedule.

River Control Projects Completed in Cagayan de Oro

Two (2) river control projects have been completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) that will benefit residents of two (2) low-lying barangays in Cagayan de Oro City.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the slope protection project along Cagayan de Oro River in Upper Balulang Section amounting to P75-million was designed to reduce flood risks and hazards by improving the river bank stability and river capacity.

Tourism Boost Expected With Better Road to Bataan National Park

More tourists are expected to visit Mt. Natib in Orani, Bataan with the ongoing improvement of an access road leading to the famous hiking destination.

“As the country’s tourism is slowly easing to normal to aid national recovery, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is also fast-tracking the concreting of the Mulawin-Tala Road going to Bataan National Park,” announced DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar.

Secretary Villar added that the 3.3-kilometer access road leading to Mt. Natib is now 80% complete and is target to be completed by April of this year.

DPWH Builds New Flood Mitigation Structure in Nueva Ecija

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that a new flood control structure has been completed to protect lives and properties in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.

“We have completed the 181-linear meter flood control wall along Baliwag River not just to prevent flooding in the community but also to protect farmlands of Novo Ecijanos,” Sec. Villar disclosed.
