Flood control projects protect Guimaras Island residents

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is implementing flood protection projects to ensure the safety of residents living near Guimaras Island’s river systems during rainy days.

According to DPWH Guimaras District Engineering Office (DEO) District Engineer Rhodora B. Nuñal, a P49.31-million construction of 380 linear-meter (l.m.) dike with esplanade in the province’s center of Barangay Poblacion, Jordan is underway and expected to be completed by March 2020.

5 new senior citizen buildings built in Nueva Ecija

To provide venues for social activities the elderly, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has built five (5) new buildings for senior citizens in Nueva Ecija.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Region 3 Director Roseller Tolentino said that successfully completed are the multi-purpose buildings in the municipalities of San Leonardo, Bongabon, Talavera, and Cabanatuan City in 2019.

22-km road project to connect barangays in Surigao del Norte by 2022

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is constructing the 2-lane NRJ Rizal – Togbongon – Mat-I – Mabini – Trinidad Road that will connect various barangays in Surigao del Norte.

The road project which comprises of 22-kilometer road including four (4) bridges namely: Hubasan Bridge, Togonan Bridge, Sangay Bridge, and Anomar Bridge with a total length of 194 linear meters, is now 39 percent completed.

DPWH to complete Himoga-an River flood control project in June 2020

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is set to complete the flood control structures of Himoga-an River along Bacolod North Road, Sagay City, Negros Occidental in time for the rainy season.

Aimed for completion this June 2020, the P58.84-million flood control project involves the construction of grouted riprap on steel sheet piles with reinforced concrete along 450 meters of Himoga-an River and clearing and grubbing, excavation and embankment works.

Subic Bay Gym, Convention Center now open to public

Better venues for local gatherings and sports events in Subic Bay Freeport Zone are now available to the public with the improvement of Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center (SBECC) and Subic Gym in Zambales.

Department of Public Works and Hihghways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar said the improvement of the SBECC and Subic Gym has served as among the sports venues for the previously concluded 30th Southeast Asian Games.

Flood control structure constructed in Isabela towns

Two (2) flood control structures were completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Isabela Fourth District Engineering Office in Isabela Province.

DPWH Region II Director Loreta M. Malaluan said that they have recently completed the 151-meter Batal Flood Control Project located in Barangay Batal in the city of Santiago in the amount of P21.55 million.

DPWH has likewise completed the construction of Dumawing Flood Control in Barangay Dumawing in the municipality of Jones.

DPWH: More than 4,000 additional classrooms underway

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in convergence with the Department of Education (DepEd) is rushing the completion of classroom projects nationwide.

Citing latest DPWH Bureau of Construction (BOC) Report for FY 2019 Basic Educational Facilities Fund (BEFF), DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said that more than 4,000 classroom projects are currently ongoing to address the country’s classroom shortage.

Additional classrooms for elementary students in San Fabian, Pangasinan completed

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a new school building to aid the expected increase in number of enrollees come opening of classes on June 1, 2020 in Rabon Elementary School, Barangay Rabon, San Fabian, province of Pangasinan.

Amounting to a total of P10.2-million, the two-storey school building consists of four (4) classrooms measuring nine (9) by seven (7) meters each, with capacity to accommodate 144 students or 36 students per classroom.
