DPWH aims 2020 completion of Imus River flood reduction project

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will take advantage of the dry season of CY 2020 to deliver the full completion of overflow dikes in Imus and Bacoor Retarding Basins of the Flood Risk Management Project for Imus River.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Undersecretary for Unified Project Management Office Operations and Technical Services Emil K. Sadain said that the project costing P1.5 billion is targeted to be completed by November 2020.

DPWH completes new school building in Calbayog City, Samar

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has helped solve classroom shortage in Malaga National High School (MNHS), in Calbayog City, Samar.

Citing a report from Region 8 Director Nerie Bueno, a two-storey, four-classroom building was completed and turned over by DPWH and now caters three (3) Grade 8 sections and one (1) Grade 9 class of MNHS since the resumption of classes in January 2020.

P150.9-million farm-to-market roads, bridges built in South Cotabato

South Cotabato saw the completion of three (3) farm-to-market roads (FMRs) and two (2) bridge projects that now boost the agricultural productivity of farmers in Barangay Ned in Lake Sebu, South Cotabato.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) South Cotabato 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) District Engineer Khalil Sultan reported a total of 13.09 kilometers of concreted FMRs, namely: 6.96 kilometers of Block 2-Antual- K’batang Road, 3.43 kilometers Tinugas-Lawaan Road, and 2.70 kilometers of Block 4-Seven Lakes Road.

P30M flood mitigation project in Calape, Bohol now completed

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a flood control project in Barangay Calunasan, Calape, Bohol.

The P30.2 million project involves the construction of a 790.50-meter river revetment with grouted riprap to provide protection to residents during typhoon and rainy season.

DPWH Bohol 1st DEO District Engineer Francis Antonio L. Flores reported that the structure will ensure the protection of lives and properties of people living in Barangay Calunasan.

New 2.2-km road boosts tourism, local industries in Benguet

Tublay, a landlocked agricultural municipality in Benguet, is now more accessible to tourists traders with the completion of the new Acop-Kapangan-Kibungan-Bakun Junction to Bangho-Daclan-Basil-Tublay Central Road.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that safer and more convenient travel awaits tourists visiting Tublay with the completion of the 2.2-km concrete road that serves as an alternate route for the existing Acop-Kabangan-Kibungan-Bakun Road.

DPWH delivers early completion of Sultan Kudarat flood mitigating projects

Three (3) flood control projects along Ala River were completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Sultan Kudarat 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) months ahead of target schedules.

The projects with total cost of P161.73 million, funded under the CY 2019 Regular Infrastructure Program, now safeguard both the lives and agricultural livelihood of residents in Barangays Ala and Daladap in Esperanza and Barangay Biwang in Bagumbayan.

Bohol’s Dauis Bridge 2 to open by Q1 2020

The Department of Public Works Highways (DPWH) aims to complete this first quarter of 2020 the construction of an additional 2-lane bridge to augment capacity of the existing 2-lane Dauis Bridge in Barangay Marivelles, Dauis town, Panglao Island, Bohol Province.

Citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 7 Director Edgar B. Tabacon, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the ongoing Dauis Bridge 2 Project along Junction Dauis-Panglao Road is currently 61 percent completed.
