Desilting project completed along Estero de Tripa de Gallina in support to Manila Bay rehab

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a P46.5-million dredging project along Estero de Tripa de Gallina, considered the longest creek in Metro Manila and one (1) of Manila Bay’s tributaries.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH National Capital Region Director Ador G. Canlas said that desilting measure was recently undertaken along the 900-meter section of the creek to ensure continuous flow of water and prevent accumulation of silt that lessens its water carrying capacity.

Villar inspects Daang Kalikasan in Pangasinan

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar inspected on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 the mountain road project linking the Provinces of Pangasinan and Zambales dubbed as “Daang Kalikasan” to ensure that construction is on track.

Secretary Mark Villar said that the picturesque Mangatarem-Sta. Cruz Road passing through rolling hills and mountains will soon be an emerging tourist attraction in northern Luzon.

DPWH - JICA talks on Coastal Disaster Management

Officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) met on Monday, February 17, 2020 to strengthen Philippines’ coastal management program and policies.

The talk between DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, JICA Coastal Disasters and Management in the Philippines Senior Representative Ayumu Oshima, Undersecretaries Emil K. Sadain and Roberto R. Bernardo centered on the existing coastal disaster management issues in the country and the measures implemented by Japanese experts that can be adopted.

DPWH upgrades Mangcuram-Siffu FMR in Isabela

Residents, especially farmers of Barangay Mangcuram and Siffu, Ilagan City, Isabela will no longer have to bear with the bumpy gravel and muddy road just to transport their crops to the main markets.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed the upgrading of 2.3-kilometer Mangcuram-Siffu Road with 11.7 meter wide and 280 millimeter thickness Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP) including a 142 lineal meter of lined canal, in the amount of P18.8 million.

Abra weaving community to benefit from new river dike

A new flood control structure aimed to protect residents and local weavers from overflowing of Abra River during rainy season has been completed in La Paz, Abra.

Based on a report by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Abra District Engineer Joselito T. Arao, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that the Bulbulala Flood Control Project is now ready to serve as barrier to mitigate flood risk in Barangay Bulbulala.

Additional classrooms for elementary students in San Fabian, Pangasinan completed

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a new school building to aid the expected increase in number of enrollees come opening of classes on June 1, 2020 in Rabon Elementary School, Barangay Rabon, San Fabian, province of Pangasinan.

Amounting to a total of P10.2-million, the two-storey school building consists of four (4) classrooms measuring nine (9) by seven (7) meters each, with capacity to accommodate 144 students or 36 students per classroom.

Concrete road in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon nears completion; ahead of schedule

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is implementing flood protection projects to ensure the safety of residents living near Guimaras Island’s river systems during rainy days.

According to DPWH Guimaras District Engineering Office (DEO) District Engineer Rhodora B. Nuñal, a P49.31-million construction of 380 linear-meter (l.m.) dike with esplanade in the province’s center of Barangay Poblacion, Jordan is underway and expected to be completed by March 2020.
