DPWH, Private Sector join hands for Mega Quarantine Center at Philippine Arena

A large-scale health and safety initiative of the Department Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Philippine Arena, MVP Group of Companies, and Villar Group was completed Wednesday, April 29, 2020 in a bid to isolate and provide optimal medical care against COVID-19.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the three (3) big tents at the Iglesia Ni Cristo’s (INC) Philippine Arena Complex in Ciudad de Victoria, Bocaue, Bulacan were repurposed into 300-bed healthcare facilities through public-private sector partnership.

Returning OFWs undergo quarantine at We Heal As One Center-World Trade Center

The We Heal As One Center-World Trade Center (WTC) on Friday, April 24, welcomed returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who will undergo the 14-day mandatory quarantine.

The OFWs will have access to round-the-clock medical care by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Health Service Command, and will be provided free meals by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

“In coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs, a total of 58 deportees from Abu Dhabi are presently quarantined at the WTC," said Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar.

DPWH converts shipping containers into mobile health facilities

With the rising number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is now converting shipping containers into mobile health facilities as part of its continuing efforts to assist the Department of Health (DOH) in this time of crisis.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that one (1) prototype health facility was already converted by the DPWH National Capital Region (NCR) from a shipping container.

DPWH to turn over masks to govt. hospitals

The Department of Public Works and Highways will turn over surgical masks to six (6) major government hospitals in Metro Manila to address the immediate needs of surgical masks.

Secretary Mark A. Villar has identified Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital, National Kidney & Transplant Institute, Philippine Heart Center, Philippine General Hospital, Lung Center of the Philippines, and Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center to receive 2,000 pieces of surgical masks each.

Repurposing of Mega Tents Kick-Off at Philippine Arena Complex

Conversion of three (3) mega tents at the Philippine Arena complex in Bocaue, Bulacan into additional COVID-19 quarantine health facilities has formally started Monday, April 20, 2020.

Offered to the government by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) in response to the health crisis, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) thru the Task Force on Augmentation of Healthcare Facilities formed by Secretary Mark A. Villar and the Regional Office 3 leads in coordinating the conversion of mega tents at INC’s Ciudad De Victoria estate.

International Contractors Donated Masks to DPWH for Frontliners and Health Workers

DPWH received from international Contractors a total of 139K Face Masks which shall be turned over to Health Workers and DPWH Frontliners.

Most of the donations were distributed to major hospitals such as Philippine General Hospital, Philippine Heart Center, Lung Center of the Philippines, Manila Doctors Hospital, Veterans Memorial Medical Center, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Fabella Hospital, St. Luke’s Medical Center (Quezon City), among others.
