Hundreds of families benefit from improved health unit in Leyte

A better healthcare facility was delivered by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the needs of residents of Barangay M. Veloso in the Municipality of Calubian, Leyte.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Region 8 Director Nerie D. Bueno said that the Calubian Rural Health Unit is providing immediate and better health services to the residents of the far flung barangay and its neighboring villages following the rehabilitation of its consultation rooms, maternity rooms, and minor surgery and treatment room.

2.9-km Ozamiz Coastal Bypass Road finally opens

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the 2.935-kilometer Ozamis Coastal Bypass Road that now serves as a diversion road from the busy main roads of Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental.

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said DPWH Misamis Occidental 2nd District Engineering Office headed by District Engineer Carol Lyn C. Abinales recently inaugurated the road section, which was constructed in the amount of P138 million.

Batan Circumferential Road in Rapu-Rapu, Albay, now ongoing

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has started the construction and improvement of Batan Circumferential Road (BCR) in the municipality of Rapu-Rapu, Albay.

DPWH Regional Office V Director Virgilio Eduarte led the groundbreaking ceremony of the project, which is envisioned as a 52.4 kilometers of road around Batan Island - an isolated but emerging tourist destination of Albay boasting pristine beaches, waterfalls, and cave.

Multi-billion-peso flood control projects underway for Caviteños

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Unified Project Management Office now has two (2) ongoing mega flood-control projects costing approximately P8.87 Billion in the Province of Cavite.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, DPWH UPMO-Flood Control Management Cluster Office Director Patrick Gatan said that the Cavite Industrial Area Flood Risk Management Project (CIA-FRIMP) costing JPY15.928 Billion or roughly P7.4 Billion recently commenced in the eastern part of Cavite.

DPWH to provide public assistance on Holy Week

District Engineering Offices (DEOs) of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) nationwide were directed to activate their “Lakbay-Alalay” program in anticipation of the forthcoming Holy Week.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar issued a memorandum instructing both the Regional and District Engineering Offices in the whole country to provide motorists and pedestrians as well as domestic and foreign tourists prompt and reliable assistance during the Holy Week on April 17-21 this year by ensuring that necessary measures are strictly observed and implemented.
