DPWH Continues to Help in Fight Vs. COVID-19

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will once again turn over health commodities such as surgical face masks donated by Chinese contractors to hospitals and other service frontliners.

About 18,000 pieces of surgical face masks, 1,000 pieces N95 masks, and 90 pieces personal protective equipment (PPE) were received from two (2) Chinese construction groups on Holy Monday, April 6, 2020 by DPWH, as donation to help in the Philippine government’s effort to halt the spread of the coronavirus.

A safety and health program has been implemented for construction workers of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and private contractors deployed to convert state-owned buildings into functional medical facilities for the prevention and control of corona virus (COVID-19) disease.

Villar: All National Roads and Bridges affected by earthquakes are now accessible to public

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar announced that all national roads and bridges affected by earthquakes are now accessible to the public.

“The DPWH Quick Response Teams were able to assess, fix, and open various roads, bridges, and other infrastructure that were damaged by the recent earthquakes in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao,” Mark Villar noted.

DPWH Southern Leyte upgrades facility to make its office more PWD-friendly

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Southern Leyte field office has installed an elevator in their new building in an effort to address the accessibility concerns of persons with disabilities (PWD).

“I am happy that we are able to upgrade our facility here. We need to accommodate those differently-abled persons and stakeholders and integrate them into the mainstream society,” said District Engineer Ma. Margarita Junia citing laws requiring government agencies and private institutions to install facilities for PWDs.
