DPWH-6 joins Mangrove Planting

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office VI participated in a mangrove-planting activity held April 10, 2019 at Brgy. Bigke, Leganes, Iloilo.

Spearheaded by the Metro Iloilo Air Shed Governing Board and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) – Equipment Management Bureau (EMB) 6, the event was also participated by different National Government Agencies (NGAs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), private sectors, schools and Local Government Units (LGUs).

Flood control systems constructed in central Iloilo towns

Three flood control structures were completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Iloilo 2nd District Engineering Office in various towns in the central part of Iloilo.

District Engineer Sanny Boy O. Oropel said they have completed the Jalaur River Control System along Pototan-Dingle-Tabugon Road in Poblacion, Dingle town in the amount of ₱18.6 million, which includes construction of 117.20-lineal meter, 3.0-meter wide slope protection (concrete revetment) with concrete guard rail and stone masonry.

DPWH readies Guimaras roads for Holy Week

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) ensured the preparedness of national roads in Guimaras in anticipation for the influx of tourists for the Lenten Season.

According to DPWH Guimaras District Engineer Rhodora B. Nuñal, a total of 128.962 kilometers of national road network in the province are all paved, 121.345 kilometers from which are concrete paved while the remaining 7.007 kilometers are asphalt overlaid.

Don Carlos, Bukidnon receives farm-to-mill road projects

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is implementing two (2) farm-to-mill road (FMR) projects that is seen to benefit sugarcane farmers in the municipality of Don Carlos, Province of Bukidnon.

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said that DPWH Bukidnon 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO), in coordination with the Sugar Regulatory Authority (SRA), is paving a total of 3.23-kilometers of barangay road in the villages of Bocboc-Kiara and Maraymaray.

DPWH all set for Holy Week “Lakbay-Alalay” Program

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will once again deploy Motorist Assistance Teams this Lenten break in anticipation of the influx of travelers visiting churches, pilgrimages and taking advantage of the long weekend to spend time with families and loved ones.

Dubbed Lakbay Alalay, this motorist assistance program will be operational along strategic locations nationwide starting 12:00 noon on Holy Wednesday, April 7, 2019 until 12:00 noon Monday, April 22, 2019.

6-lane Quirino Bridge II fully opens

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar opened on Thursday, April 11, 2019 the newly-reconstructed northbound direction of Quirino Bridge II also known as Concordia Bridge along Quirino Highway, in Paco, Manila.

“A 6-lane Quirino Bridge II can now be used by motorists going in and out of southern part of Manila with the completion of three (3) southbound lanes last October and now the three (3) northbound lanes,” said Secretary Villar.
