DPWH completes MLQU Quarantine Facility

Recognizing the need for additional quarantine facilities in the city of Manila, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) was able to convert a COVID-19 isolation facility inside the Manuel L. Quezon University (MLQU) in Quiapo, Manila in the span of two (2) weeks.

DPWH Secretary and Isolation Czar Mark A. Villar said that the newly-completed MLQU facility was rushed to add 60 more bed units that will cater to the city’s COVID-19 cases.

Villar Creates Task Force vs Graft and Corruption

In a bid to strengthen the government’s fight against corruption, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) created the Task Force Against Graft and Corruption (TAG) to probe allegations of widespread anomalies in the agency.

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar issued Department Order Number 101 forming a five-member committee that will investigate the corruption allegedly perpetrated by officials and/or employees of the Department which are based on valid complaints.

DPWH Wraps-Up Bridge Construction Along Plaridel Bypass Road

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that a new two (2)-lane bridge across Angat River in Bustos, Bulacan is about to be completed.

“We now wrapping up the construction of the 1.12 kilometer Angat Bridge along the Plaridel Bypass Road”, said Secretary Villar.

Secretary Villar added that even with the challenges brought about by the pandemic, the P1.09 Billion project that also includes the construction Bridge No. 9 with a length of 40 meters and 1 kilometer road paving continues to move forward.

Villar: Pantaleon Estrella on Track for 2021 Opening

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 inspected the ongoing Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge Replacement Project being implemented to ease traffic between Estrella Street in Makati City and Barangka Drive in Mandaluyong City.

"Although temporarily-suspended for two (2) months due to COVID-19, we are now seeing significant progress of this ongoing iconic bridge project," said Secretary Villar during the inspection.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is about to bridge the travel gap between the Provinces of Bataan and Cavite with the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge Project.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar declared the start of detailed engineering design (DED) activities for the mega bridge project that will be carried out in the next 15 months.
