Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar declared that by 2022, Zamboangeños will no longer have to bear with the congested roads in Zamboanga City.
Secretary Villar made the announcement, citing the ongoing 17.21-kilometer Zamboanga City Diversion Road Project being implemented to provide an alternate road to Pagadian City-Zamboanga City Road - an established priority corridor located in Zamboanga City.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is now set implement the third and final contract to complete a 1.76-kilometer bypass road project in the city of Bais, Negros Oriental.
According to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, Phase 2 of the ongoing 4-lane Bais Bypass Road Project was recently completed which makes 1.157-kilometer portion of the bypass road already serviceable from before Aglipay Street up to Quezon Street.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar commended the DPWH Task Force responsible in speeding up the road right-of-way (RROW) acquisition for the soon-to-be-opened Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 Project.
To ensure that project implemented in the district conforms to its plans and program of works, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Leyte Second District Engineering Office, district engineer Leo Edward Oppura conducted on-site visit of completed projects.
Among these projects were the recently completed Manloy river flood control and the road concreting in Brgy. Tigbao both in Carigara, Leyte.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar reported that the completed structure along Camp Ofelia Easement in Barangay Lintangan side and along the concrete abutment of bridge in Barangay Malayal now protect residents and properties, as well as agricultural resources from major floods.

Recognizing the need for additional quarantine facilities in the city of Manila, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) was able to convert a COVID-19 isolation facility inside the Manuel L. Quezon University (MLQU) in Quiapo, Manila in the span of two (2) weeks.
DPWH Secretary and Isolation Czar Mark A. Villar said that the newly-completed MLQU facility was rushed to add 60 more bed units that will cater to the city’s COVID-19 cases.
