DPWH completes MSR Diversion Road underpass in Lucena City

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completes construction of a P245 million-worth underpass located along Manila South Road (MSR) Diversion Road in Lucena City, Quezon.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, officially opened the project to vehicular traffic with a ceremonial drive-thru and unveiling of project marker.

Secretary Villar said that the project is anticipated to ease traffic congestion along Daang Maharlika Route, delivering faster and safer travel for motorists.

8 evacuation centers built in Western Visayas, 3 more underway

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that Western Visayas Region now has eight (8) Regional Evacuation Centers with the completion and turn-over of two (2) more in addition to the six (6) previously turned over during the first half of the year.

“Residents of Barangay Milibili, Roxas City and Barangay Igtambo in San Miguel, Iloilo no longer have to use schools as temporary shelters in times of calamities with the completion of these bigger and better disaster resilient infrastructure,” said Secretary Villar.

DPWH estimates P86M worth of infra damage in Mindanao

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has reported P86 million-worth of initial damage in public infrastructure, resulting from the earthquake that shook parts of Mindanao last October 16, 2019.

According to a report from DPWH Regional Office 12, while all major roads and bridges in the region remain passable, some infrastructure were partially damaged and are continuously being monitored due to occurrence of aftershocks.

DPWH completes workshop, laboratory buildings in Negros Occidental

Four new educational facilities are now in use in Salong National High School, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, after the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) recent turn-over of completed building projects.

Citing a report from Region 6 Director Lea N. Delfinado, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the facilities constructed include two regular workshop buildings with two (2) and three (3) storeys, a two (2)-storey science laboratory building, and a two (2)-storey Information and Communications Technology (ICT) laboratory.
