DPWH completes World Bank-assisted rehab projects along Manila North and South Road

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the maintenance of Manila North Road (MNR) and Manila South Road (MSR) under the 5-year, World Bank-assisted National Roads Improvement and Management Program (NRIMP) Phase II.

Started in September 2013, the 2-part project costing P3.91-billion covers the rehabilitation of 234-kilometer portion of MNR from Monumento, Caloocan City to Agoo/Aringay Boundary, La Union, 157.167-kilometer MSR from Tiaong, Quezon to Sta. Elena, Camarines Sur as well as 50.543-kilometer MSR from Pagsanjan, Laguna to near Lucena City.

DPWH inspects 3 ongoing road projects in Cavite

With the rapid growth of tourism in the province of Cavite, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar visited three (3) ongoing road projects on the said province on September 14, 2018.

Together with DPWH Regional Office IV-A Director Samson L. Hebra, Secretary Villar conducted road inspection in the ongoing construction of 42.75 kilometers East – West Road with a total allotment budget of ₱3.925-Billion. The project is programmed to connect two national roads, namely: Cavite – Batangas Road in the East and Ternate – Nasugbu Road in the west.

DPWH completes 3.9-km road for an island municipality in Samar

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed two (2) road projects that now serve locals and boost income of fishermen and farmers in the island municipality of Almagro, Samar Province.

DPWH Samar First District Engineering Office (SFDEO) chief Alvin A. Ignacio said a total of P100 million was allocated to construct 3.9-kilometer roads for the people of Almagro whose only means of traveling from one barangay to another prior to the project is through motorboats.

DPWH installs 17 rainwater collectors at different establishments in Iloilo

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is installing rainwater collector systems (RWCS) in schools, offices, and public places in an effort to address the water shortage in Iloilo.

According to DPWH-Region 6 Director Wenceslao M. Leaño, a total of P3.4 million was allocated for the construction of 17 RWCS in various offices and schools.

Three (3) RWCS will be constructed at the DPWH Regional Office while one (1) each will be placed at Brgy. Taft North and Jaro Big Market in the District of Jaro and Brgy. San Juan in Molo District.

DPWH planted 600 seedlings in Iloilo City

A total of 600 various tree seedlings were planted by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office 6 at the Agony Hill in Sitio Taban, Barangay Manguining, Alimodian, Iloilo City.

In participation for the “Piyesta sa Kakahuyan 2018,” more than 100 personnel from different DPWH District Engineering Offices (DEOs) hiked a 1.5 kilometer distance to share their love for nature by planting various tree seeds like mahogany and narra.
