DPWH Reports 14 Road Closures, Limited Access Due to Tropical Cyclone ‘Kristine’

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) - Bureau of Maintenance has reported 14 road closures and restricted access in Regions V (Bicol) and VIII (Eastern Visayas) as a result of Tropical Cyclone “Kristine.”

As of 12 AM on October 23, 2024, these closures have been attributed to severe flooding, landslides, rockslides, debris flow, and road collapse.

DPWH Completes River Control Project in Alimodian, Iloilo

Communities near Jaro-Aganan River now benefit from a newly-completed flood control structure built by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the municipality of Alimodian, Iloilo Province.

According to DPWH Region VI Director Sanny Boy Oropel, the project in Barangay Bagumbayan is a 665-lineal meter revetment wall on steel sheet foundation built to reduce the risk of flooding by diverting, storing, and releasing floodwaters in a controlled manner especially during inclement weather.

DPWH Upgrades Albay’s Camalig Tourism Circuit

A P48.59-million road improvement project was recently completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to provide a safer and smoother access to the tourist destinations in Albay Province.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 5 Director Virgilio C. Eduarte, said that the recent construction and upgrading works along Camalig Tourism Circuit was implemented under Tourism Road Infrastructure Program (TRIP) in convergence with the Department of Tourism.

Aimed at bolstering the town’s emergency response, a 3-storey building that will serve as a municipal fire station was built at Barangay Maghubas, Burauen town.
