The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has built a flood control structure to address long-standing flooding issues along Matagoy Creek in Silay City, Negros Occidental.

DPWH Region 6 Director Sanny Boy Oropel identified the completed project in Barangay Rizal as a 770-lineal meter stone masonry structure with embankment from borrow and installation of metallic-coated gabions.

“The structure will directly benefit communities residing along the creek and nearby subdivisions, ensuring their safety during heavy rains or typhoons,” said Director Oropel.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has successfully completed the construction of a river control structure as a long-term solution to flooding brought by Talavera River in Barangay Pag-asa, Talavera, Nueva Ecija.

Completed is a 266.00-linear meter slope protection project built from steel sheet piles, supported by concrete beam coping and gabions, aimed at preventing river overflow and reducing flood risks during the rainy season, and minimizing water damage to the surrounding areas.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed the widening of a 1.6-kilometer portion of Biliran-Cabucgayan Road to accommodate more motorists and ease traffic congestion in Biliran, Biliran Province.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that the project upgrading from two to four lanes complements widened segments of Biliran Circumferential Road, promoting smoother and faster mobilization of people, goods, and services in the area.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has constructed a concrete bridge to enhance accessibility for local farmers and traders in the municipality of Sergio Osmeña, Zamboanga del Norte.

According to DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao Dia, the 359-meter, two (2)-lane bridge now connects Barangay San Juan and Barangay Mabuhay, providing a safer and more efficient route for trucks and heavy vehicles transporting agricultural products to market centers.
