DPWH Gears Up Ahead of All Saint's Day, Clear Roads Leading to Provinces

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) prepared several measures to address the expected increase in number of motorists heading provinces for the traditional observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

Secretary Rogelio L. Singson said that DPWH Regional and District Offices have started vigorous implementation of various highway routine maintenance activities such as pavement, bridge, shoulder, and drainage and vegetation control maintenance especially those leading to both public and private cemeteries.

DPWH Appeals for Voluntary Re-Routing at Magallanes Area

Motorists are advised to consider alternative routes to avoid traffic build-up at the area of Magallanes in Makati City.

“While the Magallanes Interchange is undergoing repair works, we encourage private motorists to voluntarily take alternate routes to reduce vehicles in the area, said Secretary Rogelio L. Singson.

“With permission from MMDA, repair works are being implemented between 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM on weekdays and 24-hour scheme during Saturdays and Sundays with only one (1) lane closure at a given time.

DPWH-CAR Ties Up With CSOs & NGOs

Monitoring of infrastructure projects in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) will now be easier with the assistance from Civil Society Organizations and Non-Government Organizations (CSOs/NGOs).

This is made possible as the Department of Public Works and Highways- CAR (DPWH-CAR) is now regularly conducting series of consultations with CSOs/NGOs in the region.

Whale Shark Capital Donsol to Have Better Road Access by 2016

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently working on two tourism road projects that will further boost the tourism potential of Donsol Sorsogon, the “Whale Shark Capital of the world”.

DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson said the implementation of tourism road projects heading to Donsol, which has a combined cost of P1.4 billion is expected to be finished in the year 2016.

The road project is part of the DPWH convergence program with the Department of Tourism (DOT) under the DOT Tourism Master Plan to provide access to designated tourism destination.

DPWH Completes Replacement of Narrow Bridge in Batangas

A new bridge completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways in Lemery, Batangas is now serving thousands of commuters and facilitating better transport of products to market centers.

DPWH completed Bridge 10, a 28.8-meter single span, double-lane concrete bridge in Barangay Bagong Pook, Lemery, Batangas at a cost of P31.7 million under the Mega Bridge for Urban and Rural Development Project (MBURDP).

Prior to the construction of the new bridge, residents of Barangay Pook utilized an old single lane bridge made of timber and steel components.
