DPWH Builds Seawall to Protect Coastal Barangay in Cagayan

A newly-completed seawall project implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now prevents coastal flooding in the low-lying Barangay Santa Maria in Buguey, Cagayan.

In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Cagayan First District Engineer Oscar G. Gumiran said that the completed P19.7-million project funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA) is a 106-meter seawall built parallel to the shore of Barangay Santa Maria to serve as barrier against storm surges and high tides.

DPWH-MLIT Japan Holds Seminar on Large-scale Flood Control Management, Water Resources Facilities

A technical cooperation forum on learning from Japan’s modern flood-control management and water resources facilities was organized by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in partnership with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Tourism (MLIT) of the Government of Japan and participated by around 100 representatives from the DPWH Unified Project Management Office-Flood Control Management Cluster (UPMO-FCMC) and Regional Offices, other relevant government agencies, and private institutions.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has successfully completed the replacement of the damaged flood control structure along the Mag-asawang Tubig River in Baranggay Tigkan, Naujan, Mindoro Oriental.

DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan said the new river wall spanning 20 meters is a necessary protective measure against flooding during heavy downpours.

The new flood control structure which commenced in March 2023 was completed by DPWH Mindoro Oriental District Engineering Office in the amount of P33.78 Million.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is on track to complete the second phase of Bagong Tondo Sports Complex Project in Manila by the first quarter of 2024.

DPWH National Capital Region Director Loreta M. Malaluan, in her report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, said that Phase 2 of the project is 38 percent complete, a significant improvement since it began civil works in April 2023.

DPWH Upgrades MNR in Santa, Ilocos Sur

The Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) has completed the improvement of a portion of the Manila North Road (MNR) in Santa, Ilocos Sur.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Regional Office Director Ronnel M. Tan said that a total of P39.2 Million was allocated for the road upgrade, specifically in Barangay Magsaysay, where motorists may pass along a scenic coastline.
