DPWH Builds Seawall to Protect Coastal Barangay in Cagayan
A newly-completed seawall project implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now prevents coastal flooding in the low-lying Barangay Santa Maria in Buguey, Cagayan.
In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Cagayan First District Engineer Oscar G. Gumiran said that the completed P19.7-million project funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA) is a 106-meter seawall built parallel to the shore of Barangay Santa Maria to serve as barrier against storm surges and high tides.
