DPWH Upgrades Sta. Barbara Road Leading to Dumangas RoRo Port, Iloilo

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has undertaken improvement works along Iloilo City-Leganes-Dumangas Coastal Road to ensure convenient and faster access to Dumangas Roll-On Roll-Off (RoRo) Port in Iloilo province.

DPWH Region 6 Director Sanny Boy Oropel identified the completed project as the asphalt overlay of a four (4)-lane, 5.13-lane kilometer portion, specifically in Sta. Barbara section.

Flood Control, Solar-Powered Water System Completed in South Cotabato

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a concrete revetment structure aimed at preventing the overflow of Silway River and flooding in Barangay Maligo, Polomolok, South Cotabato.

Spanning 370 meters, the flood control project involves the construction of a 5-meter-high revetment wall with embankment, the installation of steel pile foundations, grouted riprap, and concrete capping.

9 Roads in CAR, Region 2 Remain Closed Due to Nika, Ofel

As of 6:00 am Wednesday, November 13, 2024, nine (9) national roads are still impassable due to landslide, soil collapse, and flooding brought by the combined effects of Tropical Cyclones Nika and now Ofel which has further strengthened into a typhoon.

The Department of Public Works Bureau of Maintenance (DPWH-BOM) identified six (6) closed roads in the Cordillera Administrative Region, and three (3) in Cagayan Valley Region:

Nika Affects Mountain Roads in Northern Luzon

The number of impassable national roads due to Tropical Cyclone ‘Nika’ has increased to 16, with additional road closures reported due to soil collapse in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

Based on the 12:00 noon, November 12, 2024 report of the Department of Public Works Bureau of Maintenance (DPWH-BOM), although three (3) roads have reopened since morning, more roads have also been closed in Kalinga Province due to soil collapse:

13 Roads in Luzon Closed Due to Tropical Cyclone Nika

As of 6:00 AM on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, Tropical Cyclone Nika has caused the closure of 13 road sections across the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and the Cagayan Valley Region.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance, announced that the following nine (9) national road sections in Ifugao, Kalinga, and Mountain Province are currently impassable:

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is close to finishing the asphalting of the four (4)-lane Bogo-Polambato Wharf Road in Bogo City, Cebu.

DPWH Cebu City 4th District Engineer Elvis G. Calunod in his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and DPWH Region 7 OIC-Director Danilo J. Villa Jr. said that the ongoing road maintenance project, costing P48.95 million, is expected to reduce the risk of accidents, promote safer and smoother traffic flow, and provide a more efficient transportation network in the vicinity.

Irawan River Project Boosts Disaster Resilience in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently completed the construction of flood control structures along the upstream and downstream sections of the Irawan River, protecting communities and promoting local activities in Barangay Irawan, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Based on the report of DPWH Regional Office IV-B Director Gerald A. Pacanan to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, the projects involve the construction of revetment walls on the upstream and downstream of the river measuring 93.17 meters and 95.79 meters, respectively.
