The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has successfully completed a 1-kilometer flood control structure in Barangay San Jose, Manjuyod, Negros Oriental, enhancing the community’s resilience to flooding and safeguarding local livelihoods.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Negros Island Region OIC-Director Denise Maria M. Ayag highlighted the significance of the project in addressing the recurring damages caused by storm surges.

25 Roads Closed as of 12 Noon Monday

As of 12:00 noon Monday, November 18, 2024, a total of 25 road closures were reported due to the effects of Tropical Cyclones Nika, Ofel, and Pepito, affecting several national roads of Luzon.

More Road Closures Reported in Northern Luzon Amid Combined Effects of Tropical Cyclones

As of 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024, seven national road sections in Northern Luzon remain impassable due to the combined effects of Tropical Cyclones Nika, Ofel, and Pepito.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has reported additional road closures in Apayao, Ifugao, and Batanes caused by landslides, soil collapses, and washed-out infrastructure.

The DPWH Bureau of Maintenance identified the affected road sections as follows:

1. Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road, Lacnab Section, Barangay Kabugawan, Calanasan, Apayao due to soil collapse.

In a report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office XI Director Juby B. Cordon said that the completion of the project aims to augment agricultural production, particularly bananas and coconut trees, which are the farmers' primary source of income in Sitio Logdeck.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has undertaken improvement works along Iloilo City-Leganes-Dumangas Coastal Road to ensure convenient and faster access to Dumangas Roll-On Roll-Off (RoRo) Port in Iloilo province.

DPWH Region 6 Director Sanny Boy Oropel identified the completed project as the asphalt overlay of a four (4)-lane, 5.13-lane kilometer portion, specifically in Sta. Barbara section.
